Mom (no not MINE), welcome to the board! The others are right, and I am glad to see they just pushed your training back a bit. Do NOT give up, my wife had trouble with the regulator transition, she spit pool water for 4 days straight and I was thinking "She hates this, shes gonna give up..." but she didn't and on the 5th day something clicked and she got it. What the shop said does seem a bit callous though. Once you get your OW, I would consider a more polite school, now I'll grant you, the INSTRUCTION is the important thing, and if they are really good at their job then you might want to stay, but I hae worked with LDSs that were like that, and I HATED the instructor, got my C card and switched to another shop soon thereafter, had a great time ever since. Some people were not meant to be around the civilized. Think of using your fins as a round house kick, its ALL IN THE HIPS. I dive a little weird but I force my fins down into the water and sort of kick "up" at an angle. Do what works best for you though, the only thing that matters is that you are able to get yourself around with the gear. Good luck and we are ALL cheering for you.
