heh .. I have a 42" hose routed under right arm, I like the length ... Oh, and I have a swivel too no less :11: .. maybe I'll explde and see you on the bottom ;)
And a fine swivel it is too! (judging by your profile pic). Hmmm also see that you dive split fins. I will definitely see you in hell, ;) because the tribe won't have us.

They are likely to grab the "long" hose out of your mouth. That 20 to 36-inch difference in reach over a normal hose is enough to keep them away from you so they don't drag you or do something to you.

"Hi Jenny!" :wavey:

Not sure what your getting at here. Could you expand on it?

I had an OOG experience and I did NOT like the short hose.

My .02psi.

Were you the OOGee or OOGor. Please share.

Panic'd divers have been known to grab at the regulator you're breathing because they can see air coming out there. Now that they have a breathable air source, a nice 5' or 7' hose allows you to put some decent and welcomed space between you and them.

Normal hose is something around 30 inches...

Oh and the last line was just being friendly. Met Jenny in Ft. Lauderdale last February in FLBTS (Marvel's Sideyard). :D

I was talking to an experienced instructor/operator/dive shop owner the other day. He did say in many cases new divers in percieved or actual OOA panic "go for the bubbles" rather than searching for or signaling for a conventional octo. I am with you on that.

I did not understand at first, but I guess you are saying the long hose keeps them far away from you after they grab it. I have heard people say they want the OOA diver as far away from them as possible. I think you would want to hold them close to take control of the situation, which is still possible of course with any length hose as String stated above. I don't think you would want them wipping around on a tether attached to your first stage.

Adding the aspect of claustraphobia from being so close together, and being completely unable to manuver or do anything productive sounds like a super great idea. I'll be sure to bear hug anyone who is OOA so they feel more secure.

And why do I need different hose lengths for percieved "different" situations? My 7' hose is appropriate for ALL situations.
