7 ft. Hose...gggrrrrhhh

No doubles, SS 80. Thanks all. The hose does NOT run UNDER my arm. It goes accross and behind my neck then around. I fiddled with that thing a bunch of times and as long as I didn't look right I was ok. As soon as I turned my head it would snug up.

You carry your knife on your belt? On your left?

When I don't carry my small canister light on my right hip (where my hose normally gets routed around), I've found it to be decent substitute to route it underneath my knife sheath on my left.

So my long hose (7') goes down my right-side, around my front, over my harness belt, under the knife sheath, around the back, over my shoulder and into my mouth.

I use a 7 foot hose on my doubles but a 5 footer on my single. I need to move to a 6 or 7 foot because it limits my head movement some, yet I fit the profile of an NFL linebacker so no small boy. I still do ok with the 5 footer. I currently have dive rite pockets on my harness (though they'll be going away with a v-weight and my recent can light purchase). Do you have a picture with your routing? I believe it would help with advise on how to correct the problem.

I have been diving a 7ft. hose for almost a year now. I used to wrap it under my reel that was hanging on my right side (DSS BP/W) then up and around my left arm, around my neck to my mouth. I always used the reel to "hold" the hose in place.
On these shallow beach dives, I do not bring my reel and SMB. Normally no problem. But last night.. AARRRGGHHH! I routed my hose the same way, but every time I looked to the right, the hose would hook itself somehow behind my head. I think it wedged between the wing and the regulator. I would reach up and pull it to the right. Fine. But this happened at least a couple dozen times. Frustrating at best. I finally adjusted it so it went under my right arm, but it pulled on my mouth. As long as I didn't move my head much, it was ok.
Anybody have this problem? If so, how did you correct it? Yes, my 7ft is my primary, and the octo is bungied.

"Around" your arm? That is not right.
It should cross the front of your chest to the left shoulder (collar bone) then behind your neck over the right shoulder.

Just curious Jennie, why doubles on a shallow dive?

I route the same way as has been mentioned then tuck the slack in my waist belt. I have had a problem at times but it is due to having too much slack tucked into my belt. There is just alot more hose to deal with
