Stories and video in cayman compass this week of the loss of approximately 1 mile on the southern end of 7mb that is now only accessible by boat.

I heard that the Cayman Goverment is contemplating renaming that stretch of land to "7 foot beach".

It looks like it will be a big loss for all the property owners affected and government revenue as beach front property is no longer beach front with property damage and future property damage all along this stretch.

We were there last October. There are places where there is a 3-4 foot drop off from the bottom step of the property beach stairs to the sand where there used to be 50 feet or so of sand to water’s edge.

When I considered buying property on Grand Cayman the realtor said that in his opinion it wasn't worth looking seriously at SMB. He said you won't get the same return on your investment as other waterfront property and there is less likelihood of damage and zero of beach erosion when you don't have a beach to erode...

Turns out the property I bought has a man-made beach that was easy to repair when the February storm came through earlier this year...

I think I made a decent decision.
