Something is up about the Suunto Repair service in Utah.

In May I sent my DX and Transmitter to the Suunto Repair Center in Utah. I payed the two battery replacement quotes the day I received the charges. My DX was returned about a week later. It has been over a month and I still have not received the transmitter.

I called yesterday and was told it would likely be 2 more weeks as the repair technician was waiting for somebody to return from Finland. To replace a transmitter battery Suunto needs somebody from Finland??? My LDS does it in a few minutes. I only sent my transmitter in because the LDS does not replace the DX battery and it was more convenient.

When I questioned the woman on the phone (who was getting her information from the repair technician)...you could almost hear the disbelief in her voice trying to explain that she was told it would take two more weeks and somebody from Finland to replace the battery!

Has anybody else experienced this? Is this the future of Suunto repairs under the Huish relationship after Aqualung?

How come you just didn't replace the battery yourself? The battery is easily found from a number of places and a R&R is not a technical challenge.

I have no problems performing R&R and I service my own equipment...but on things that can leak and have existing warranties...I let the OEM do the work.
