Thanks again. Still working out plans, more travel advisories today (China). I would love to go through Manado, but it does add stops and many hours to the travel. 'still leaning towards Anilao, though looking at Bali too.

What are opinions on Moalboal vs Anilao or PG?
Diving is important- topside activities, luxury, etc. are not, but getting there and back pretty easily is too as my window is only 1 week. I would like a variety of dive sites/types, but critters are key. My trip keeps getting pushed, but I'm determined!

As a macro photographer, I will tell you hands down ANILAO.
Moalboal is interesting only for wide angle dives such as Pescador and the Sardines run.
PG has lesser critter variety than Anilao, the only benefit I see divewise is that it's closer to Verde, but Verde is a more of a blue water, wide angle dive.
Anilao is one of the best dive spots for critters in Asia equivalent to Indonesia's most famed sites like Lembeh, Tulamben or Ambon. Hence a no brainer for critter chasing. (You will also have blue water dives or jackfish school dives from Anilao, it's not a macro exclusive destination).

Thanks all. My gut has been telling me exactly what Luko wrote. As much as I want to try new spots, it's hard to argue with what Anilao offers in total for me too. It's where I first used my last camera (2011), and I'l be christening it's replacement this trip, so why not go with not just a safe bet, but world class diving!

Who do you dive with? If you want your macro critter array to increase, as well as your photo ops, i'd suggest you use a free lance guide such as Dennis Corpuz. this guy gives a boost too anyone who wants to go a step beyond in their UW photo.

I was with a group both times, staying at Crystal Blue and diving was with their "team".
Diving with a "specialist" sounds interesting, and I have reached out to Dennis. Thanks for that tip!
