We headed out of fort de Soto about 8am on a friends boat, we went 20 miles or so west, to a place called the rock pile.
We hit the water at about 1030, with a max depth 61' I saw a bunch of little gags and the typical reef fish, alot of rocks and places for them to hide, at the end of the 2nd dive (on the same spot) as I came to the anchor line I spotted about a 5' Goliath grouper tring to hide from me, I got some pictures of him. I didn't shoot my spear gun once, nothing big enough. Vis was ok top to bottom and 30-50 side to side.
We stayed alittle to long and hit the storm on the way in and it really sucked, was pretty scary for a while.

How did the rocks look? Mostly algae or were there sponges and other organisms attached? I haven't been out in the Gulf in a while and am curious to see/hear how it's recovering from red tide last year.

If anyone needs an extra dive buddy - please PM me.

There was both alot of algae and some sponges and some other growth on the rocks.
