I also say that I do not need another light however I could not pass this up. I have one on order however this morning brought a nice email saying Out of stock back in stock in 3 to 4 days. So I'll be waiting. I can't wait to see how this light stacks up to me other 2 primary back up lights and my can light.

Has anyone else had battery issues with this light yet? I just received mine and was surprised that it came with a set of batteries already installed. Light seem very well made and i'm really looking forward to diving with it.

When I tested it didn't seem all that bright so I figured the batteries where old and picked up a new set of duracells from the store. Long story short new batteries don't work at all and the ones that shipped with technically work but seem weak.

I feel like an idiot asking this, but other than C cells, is there any special battery requirement here?

Sorry Mike. The twist-on is tough. You cannot turn the DRIS 500 on when it is in a Universal light sock. The light simply spins. You'll need a buddy, or squeeze your light between your knees to hold it still while your other hand twists it on.

jax, great pics! the light wasnt designed for a light sock, so i am not surprised it is a bit hard to turn on in one its a big light for a light sock, and i never envisioned it in one. it sure looks purty in your pics though

get some of that "rubber mesh mat stuff" that you put in your kitchen drawers to keep stuff from sliding around.

similar stuff is used under rugs to keep them from sliding on floors.


wrap around light, and put light tighly in Light Sock.


It will grip the light and hold it so you can turn it.


give that a try

or drawer liner
