I'm not sure what happened to the 4th pic. Here it is again:

This is a longlure frogfish, Antennarius multiocellatus, and it does have a lure. See page 309 of the Humann/Deloach fish book.

Here's a photo of another specimen with a prominent lure:

Fantastic pictures, I cannot wait to see one swimming

WOW! That swimming froggie angler fella  pic is really really good!

Hey Almity, it also has the three spots on the tail which per Humann and Deloach is a tell tale sign of the LongLure Frog.

And the ugly fish you put up is a type of ToadFish :28: :D I'm thinking you guys have them all backwards :54:

This database get updated by a Marine Biologist and Scientist Friend of mine called Dave Harasti. He works for the authorities, here in New SOuth Wales, Australia.

His portfolio and field of study is endangered species, which for us here is the Grey Nurse Shark and the Black Cod. He also is doing a Field Study on Sea Horses as well.

Here is his web site

Sorry Louisianadiver, in my efforts to keep up the banter with Missdirected I didn't acknowledge your photos. I was misdirected by MissDirected

Love the shots.

When I finally back up my Gigabytes of images I will start a thread on the fish life of Sydney.

Sydney is very lucky where we can just jump of rocks and come off the beach to go diving. You are at a dive site within an hour.
