it's always exciting to dive a "new" site.. (new to me at least)
today me and bcyber (Dave) found the barge near the Mahi shipwreck!
[with some good directions from DiveWestOahu
see this thread.. post #8]

just before pushing off at Waianae Harbor..
bcyber asked "Jo-Hanna" from OC for some more hints to find the barge.
Jo mentioned.. "soon after you lose sight of the Mahi..
the barge will appear slightly left of the bow"
so.. we hooked the bow-mooring..
and decided to surface swim 'til we found the barge.
read the heading directly off the Mahi bow.. 240°.
then set-off on a due South heading.. 180°
(because the big "S" on my compass was easier to line-up)
as luck would have it.. 180° magnetic was the exact heading to the barge!
whew!
'verified this heading when we swam back to the Mahi at depth
on the reciprocal heading of 360°.. due North..
you know, the big "N" on the compass
Jo was spot-on.. less than a minute after you lose visual..
the other wreck becomes visible.
the barge is approx 100yds from the Mahi.. not even a 3 minute kick.
plus, a great day for exploring with 100+ foot viz!
shots dropping on the wreck.. actually a fairly large barge.
whole deck is encrusted with coral heads..
plenty of tropical fish on this artificial-reef..
bcyber over the barge..
length-wise swim-thrus on both sides from small portals on the deck..
view of the Mahi upon our return from the barge..
10 Eagle-rays greeted us back!
for the second dive we visited LCU West (shallow)..
then kicked over to 29-Down airplane wreck..
and explored the "cement-block" reef above the cove.
link to more photos from our "quad-wreck" dives..
