I am just doing tropical diving (Belize, BVI etc). 40-100 ft. Would you suggest a 3mm? shorty? or is a full better?

Exposure protections is really based on your ability to deal with being chilled. For me, living in Missouri and diving in cold water year round, when I got to warm water locations, a 3mm shorty is plenty.

If I'm going to use anything more than a bathing suit and t-shirt, it will be my 3mm shorty. I've used it in the BVI, Roatan and Tobago. I'll be using it in Belize next month. If you're resistant to the cold, I'd wear it. If you're not, then go with the full. I always get a chuckle when the resident Divemasters wearing a full suit and the tourists are darn near naked. Dive safe, Ken :42:
