No it really says they will be done with it first quarter 2010. I think before that it said third quarter 2009.
I have four of the gym bags that they give out. I really don't want anymore. The magazine is mostly adverts. I enjoy DAN's Alert Diver magazine much more.
In the past two months I think I have gotten 5 notices that it's time to renew my membership.

The impression I got was they like having their standards vague because it gives them more wiggle room and reduces their liability.

I wish they would rewrite the PADI standard about "always wear a snorkel" with a bit more wiggle room.

Yeah I keep asking myself what I am actually getting out of the membership. I would love to be able to manage my certs online with them, but they keep delaying that portion of their new website. It now says it will be completed first quarter of 2010. You would think they could atleast update that.
I am shocked that they do not have an official presence here. Seeing that and the website have issue have pretty much answered question number one for me.
SDI Rescue Diver course will be the next rung on my diving educational ladder.

I have been a PADI member for years. I guess I do it for the magazine. Lots O' ads but I enjoy it. The Resort issue is worthwhile to me as previously mentioned.

Never used the coupons. Tired of getting the notices and the dive bags. I tried to use one of em to carry a few dive weights. Not a good idea.

I saw one of those bags on Ebay. Now THAT was funny!

I was going to mention that a DAN membership might be more useful to you .. I see you have it covered

Right now there are focus groups being tested in 5 cities and we expect development to run the course of next year. As we progress through development stages, updates will be posted.

I guess they are also offering training in how to make computer web pages as well, new c card cert.

What is funny is I get them occasionally also...I'm SSI.

And I've never subscribed to Sport Diver so not sure where they got my name.
