I've haven't dived in Dutch Springs in July. Should I be wearing a 3mm or a 7mm? What's the temp in late July, including thermocline?

Thanks

7 mil wetsuit or a drysuit. Coldwater Gloves and Hood

Early July it was still in the low 50's at depth.

3 mil will be fine if you want to stay in the top 20' ;)

I found that the 22mm really keeps me warm, but I have to be carried to the water...........

you can get away in 5mm, but if you staying longer than 30 min or going deeper than 27ft, I suggest 7mm or a drysuit. ..or rather drysuit first, then 7mm.

Thanks all.

I asked between 3 and 7 mil because that's what I own. I am dry certified, but didn't include that because I didn't think it would be that cold. If I could do a 7 mil dive, I would save $$$ not renting a dry suit.

Last weekend the surface temp was around 70, the thermocline was around 25', and the temp was in the high 40s at 90'. I use a 7mm suit, hood, and 5 mm gloves and I was fine. If you plan on going below 40', I would strongly recommend the 7mm.

I dove there in August 2 years ago....the 3mm was nice if I stayed shallow but if i went below the thermalcline there it was very cold. even upshifted to my 7mm and a hood to do the pump house. If you get cold easy definitly go 7mm
