Sorry that I will miss it again this year. Unfortunately I will be working out of state. Always enjoyed the cleanups, seeing some really strange things come out of the water (besides the divers :D ).

I hope they get as many divers this year as in the past. It is nice to clean the junk off the bottom of the harbor.

Well Finaly the time has come for me to join my G/f and dive the habor clean up this year. I have spent 3 years on land helping her lug her gear and waiting for her to get out. Can not wait. The only thing I have been running in to is when trying to make hotel Reservations our normal being the Atwater. Most hotels are booked up. Anyone know if there is something else going on that weekend besides the Harbor Clean up. I think last year there was a Run or triathalon the same weekend. Any sugestions on nice but cheaper $120 a night to stay?

Yes, I ran into the same problem this year. Someone said the Atwater was closed for maintenance. Another source said they weren't renting any of the rooms that don't have heat. We're at the Pavilion Lodge.

Will have to miss the cleanup this year... I'll still be on board the ship in Belize and Honduras in late Feb.

Many thanks to all those who participate. If you find a pair of metal frame bifocals in a case, they're mine! I'm blind without them.

Happy holidays to all,

Dr. Bill

I just got off the phone with the Atwater and Pavilion Lodge. I guess the Atwater is normaly closed during the winter and the Pavilion Lodge is booked solid most of it by one big group. They did say that because of that they may be opening up the Atwater but that they would not know for at least 2-3 weeks so still looking for a place to crash. Have 2-3 places that we may stay but alot of the smaller hotels are closed right now.

Strange as we stayed at the Atwater during last year's clean-up...

The Hermosa Hotel and Hermosa Cottages are cheap, but you have to share bathrooms and there is no heat.

La Paloma is quaint.

Catalina Canyon Lodge is nice, has private baths and heat, but is up by the country club. http://www.catalina.com/canyon.html

Yea we Stayed at the Atwater last year as well. They said the only reason it was open was because the Pavilon was closed for renivation.
