I was looking at solo travel this upcoming trip, so the $956 was at the villablanca with $27 upgrade to superior room for 12 nights at the end of October.

Ok that does change the numbers significantly...!

$666 plane vs $956 package solo after discount for 12 nights = $290 private room = $24/night private + 27 upgrade = $51/night for room including taxes. Yeah, that's probly $500-600 cheaper than BA private room as their packages are much higher after you factor out $60 boat trips. This page is out of date but is their only online menu of prices, and one can only guess how much it'd be as a single - but you have probly already checked.

So okay, it's not the great offer we see at other times, but you'd probly save enough on diving to pay for 10 boat trips. BA will still pick you up at their dock if you don't want to take advantage of BA gear lockers, free shore dives, and lunches, but there may be a $5/day dock fee - and I suspect you'd rather use the lockers, tanks and lunches with the short walks. Hope it works out well for you.
