I feel like a kid around the Xmas holidays right now.

I just booked my dives for Molokini Crater and Lanai.

Going to be on Maui 9/22 til 9/29. I will be diving Molokini on 9/25 with Boss Frog. I know, I know, why Boss Frog? I am going to be with my family and 6 of them do not scuba  but are wanting to do the Discover Scuba. Boss Frog had the best package for a 6 hour tour of Molokini and Turtle Town. I get my 2 tank dives in, they get 1 tank + snorkel at Turtle Town.

On 9/26 we will be going to Lanai with Lahaina Divers. My dive buddy Kath and I are the only 2 signed up at this point. Anybody else going to be on Maui at that time interested in joining us? Jonathan Starr - are you there?

We pretty much set our schedule last night on what, when and where we would do things. We plan on doing beach dives on 9/24, the afternoon of 9/26, 9/27 and 9/28. I figure 12 dives in 7 days should wet the appetite.

Let me know if you will be around there at that time, would love to meet fellow board members and get wet together.

We'll be around that week, but pretty busy. On Friday evening the 28th we have the grand opening of the Dragon Arts Center I just built in Wailuku, and I'll be playing in my band at the opening. On Saturday the 29th we are playing upcountry in Kula at Kulafest at Keokea, along with some great slack key artists.

We'll certainly set one weekday aside to take you out on the boat and dive somewhere. Last weekend I spent both days escorting canoe races. I was the official boat from Maliko Gulch near jaws on the north shore to Kahului Harbor, and on Sunday from Kahului around the wild North end of Kahakaloa to Ka'anapali. Water was glassy smoothe, and we were dying to anchor and dive the reef which is almost always too gnarly, but I had lots of paddlers to herd around and I was responsible for their safety.

Best Aloha,

JOnathan

socal, I went on the Boss Frog and did the same dive trip you have planned. It was really good. They were very good with the young ones on board and we all had a great dive.

I would also recommend you check out Trilogy if you want to take an all day trip to Lani they are very superior. We did a tour of the island, and a two tank dive at the cathedrals while the rest of the family snorkeled. They provided a barbecue lunch before returning and on the way back to Maui serve ice cream. They also have a kids club and will entertain they young ones the whole trip. Very worth the cost. I don't know how you can contact them though as my brother set that trip up. He went through a group called Maui on a Budget, try a search on the net for them.

Have a great time. We did. I hated to leave. Mahalo! Aloha!

Jonathan, glad to see you are still around  . I was beginning to worry about you because I hadn't seen you posting too much lately.

I think our best bet to go would be on Wednesday 9/26 in the afternoon if that is possibe. We might even be able to do so on Tuesday 9/26 but I'm not sure about that one yet.

I will call you either Saturday or Sunday evening when we get there and we can meet and greet and fuss and discuss the logistics.

Thanks seaangel, I appreciate the info. Last year I went out on boss Frog (before I got certified) and snorkeled at Coral Gardens. I had to chuckle reading the part about the young ones. The youngest in our group is 25.

Mahalo.

My bad for guessing that those not diving were younger. Wr had an 8 yr old and 12 yr old with my family. The 12 yr. old did the Discover Diving on Boss Frog, she had difficulty clearing her ears, tried too close to having had tonsils out. The dive instructor refunded the money for her.I thought that was really nice. Still my nieces, sister and sister-in-law all snorkeled and had a great time while my brother and I went on the dives.

SOcal;

It looks like Tuesday will probably be better for me if we want to take the boat out. We'll have to check the weather. I have a Maui Board of Water Supply meeting on Wednesday morning the 26th, and I never know how late they will run.

In any case, we can always do a dusk into night dive on Wednesday at Ahihi preserve or somewhere easy from the shore, and they are often my favorites.

You are welcome to join us on Friday evening for our opening party. It should be fun, and you can meet Maui's movers, shakers, and eccentric artists.

If you go to Lanai, go on an all day Trilogy trip or take the ferry from Lahaina and check out Lanai City. It's a really neat place, and the old, small Hotel Lanai is great place to stay with a wonderful restaurant, although most rooms share baths. You can get on a dive boat from Manele bay harbor where the ferry & Trilogy come in.

Aloha,

JOnathan

Jonathan,

OK about tuesday afternoon. That is the day we will be doing the Boss Frog thing but I believe it returns to port at Maalea Harbor early afternoon. So we should be able to get together for a late afternoon dive. As far as Friday night we can talk about that when we meet up but sounds good.

see you soon.
