20th Annual Schooners Lobster Festival and Tournament! Panama City Beach, FL

Every year over the third week of September, Schooners holds their annual Lobster Festival and Tournament in Panama City Beach, FL. Divers from all over the country come to Panama City Beach to dive the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico, and haul their trophy lobsters to the Last Local Beach Club to be weighed, watched, posed with, and finally….you guessed it…..eaten!

This year's event is September 17-20!

It's a great tournament with awesome prizes - and for two great charities:
Florida Aquatic Marine Institute (FAMI-formerly PCMI) & Toys for Kids Foundation

We will have the website updated soon with registration information. We normally advertise it in Scuba News Magazine, and they have always supported us with editorial coverage, but, due to the economy, they had to cancel their September issue. So, we're trying to get the word out to all divers!

The event is ON... and it's going to be huge this year - lots of new energy and reason for celebration ... cos it's our 20th year!

Thanks to a friend - got a little more information on the tournament at Schooners in PC Beach this September - here's an excerpt from the press release they are working on:

The event, which has grown to be the biggest 4 day Lobster Festival in Florida will be held on September 17, 18, 19, 20. The first tournament was held in the fall of 1989; today, it draws divers and enthusiasts all over the country!

Divers will have the opportunity to compete in a variety of categories including Spiny Lobster, Big 6 and Shovelnose, with cash prizes totaling $5000.00. Weigh-ins will be from 3-8pm on Saturday and Noon-3pm on Sunday.

The Lobster Feast will begin at Noon on Sunday and spectators will get a chance to taste the catch for themselves! Fresh local lobster will be served. The final diver awards ceremony and a huge Auction will begin Sunday at 4pm. Lobsters, merchandise and unique packages donated by local businesses are up for bid.

Proceeds go to charity.
And, it's a Good time!
