We had a great trip at Cocoview in May 2011.

This year we became "CocoNuts" as we made our fifth trip to CocoView Resort. We received our official CocoNut certificates on Friday evening. Only four more trips to go and the tenth one’s free. . .

I won’t give all the details on the resort operations, lodging, etc. as those are found in earlier trip reports. The new managers who were on board last year continue to make improvements around the property and are very attentive to the guests. As usual, all of the staff were wonderful, including dive staff, kitchen staff and housekeepers – they all make you feel as if you are a welcome friend returning home.

Our trip dates were May 28-June 4 and we were surprised at the low occupancy rate this week; the resort was only about half full with about 35 divers. While it was nice having fewer people around the resort, we noticed that the food quality seemed to be a step down from last year (when we noted it was markedly improved from previous years). The food wasn’t bad – it just wasn’t on par with last year and seemed more like the old "CocoView meals" from prior years.

The one outstanding memory from this trip was the 3-tank day trip to the islands off the east end of the island on Thursday. We dove on Barbaretta and Morat Wall. These were outstanding dives for wide angle photography – lots of beautiful coral and sponge formations and gorgeous walls, though not a lot of fish life. We took the "fast boat" and got to the end of island in about an hour, which was really quick for the distance we covered. We had a gorgeous day with unusually flat water. We did two dives in the morning, then anchored off a small island to eat lunch, did the third dive and returned to the resort mid-afternoon. We will definitely do this again.

We did two night dives on the Prince Albert and they were both outstanding – there is an amazing amount of unusual critters to be seen at night on the Albert. We had planned on doing more night dives but it was very windy for the first couple of days so we couldn’t go out at night.

All in all, another great vacation at CCV. We have our March 2012 trip booked already.

Woah. I don't think I need to say this... but those shots are amazing. Well done! *bows down*

Darren,

Awesome!!!!

Incredible pictures . . . it's like a collection of "Who's -Who" of the Caribbean . . . so many different species captured. Awesome!

Great pics - I am looking to upgrade from my S90 to a DSLR - what camera rig are you using?

It's the shooter, not the iron.
