Late to this party, but I'm calling b.s. on the "Adaptation" argument.
As a practical matter you can yap all you want about narcosis adaptation, but I'm not buying it as being practical.
There is significant adaptation to deep air. I have no doubt. Is it "practical" ? I don't know. Are you vulnerable to having a bad day? YES. Is it safe? No.
Some people can't dive deep on air.. they feel bad, dislike the impairment and will probably never attain much adaptation for it... That is fine.. But this is not BS.. somebody who has functioned reasonably well on hundreds of deep air dives is probably going to have an easier time of doing it once more, compared to somebody who has never been past 100 and wants to try 190.
