Program Overview
Participants will spend their two weeks learning from our experienced dive professional staff and have free time in the evenings to explore the island.
This incredible diving adventure is designed to fit any summer schedule. In just two weeks, you will master basic dive skills in the open water certification, log over 10 dives, and then expand your dive knowledge even further with advanced certifications. The specialty courses you earn will help you develop a greater understanding and appreciation for the underwater world. From classroom sessions in our lodge on the beach to diving from our boats on the coral reefs, you’ll learn so much with us and have a blast doing it!
Forfar Field Station has been home to unique field study experiences for students since 1970 and IFS is thrilled to utilize the past 50 years of experience to support our very own dive course designed to give students the experience of a lifetime. Make the most of your summer with this unique opportunity on Andros, home to the world’s highest concentration of blue holes and bordering the world’s 3rd largest fringing barrier reef.
Accommodations
Living at Forfar Field Station: You will be staying in shared, rustic, cabin-style lodging along the beach. Cabins have 3-4 sets of bunk beds, electricity, fans, mosquito bug nets, and a private bathroom with shower. The Forfar Lodge houses our Dining Hall, Classroom, and open living area. The Dining Hall is where all the meals take place at Forfar. We will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. Most food allergies/dietary restrictions can be accommodated. You will have access to kayaks, windsurf boards, beach volleyball, basketball, and swimming and snorkeling from the beach.
Living on Andros: Andros is the largest Bahamian Island but very sparsely populated and fairly undeveloped. Forfar Field Station is located in the middle of the island on the east coast and nearly 20 miles in either direction from the larger settlements on the island with a few establishments within walking distance. Program Cost: $2,999
What’s included: Lodging, 3 meals a day, round trip flight from Nassau to Andros, ground transportation, all field trips and excursions, dive certifications and instruction, and trip facilitators/environmental educators. Diving gear available includes: BCD, regulator, weights and belt.
What’s not included: Flight to Nassau, BS, health/travel/dive insurance, and dive mask/snorkel/fins/wetsuit.
A $250 non-refundable registration fee is due to secure your spot in the program. The remaining fee is due 6-weeks prior on June 6, 2020. Contact us to learn more!
