I'm still waiting for my first manta sighting...very cool. The water looks very clean there...no plastic or trash. :cool2:

Thanks all for the comments. The dives were great and yes no plastic...I'm pretty amazed how clean most areas around Oahu are. Granted I do see a floating plastic bag once in a while (seen a floating tire once) but for the most part we keep it looking good.

dave.. here're the links to the HAWAII Manta Ray database:

KONA database:
MPRF ID Catalog : Kona Female Mantas
MPRF Kona Manta Ray ID Catalog : Male Mantas
MPRF Kona Manta Ray Catalog : Unknown Gender

MAUI database:
MPRF ID Catalog : Maui Female Mantas
MPRF ID Catalog : Maui Male Mantas
MPRF ID Catalog : Maui Unknown Mantas

OAHU database is blank :(
MPRF : Oahu Manta Ray Identification Catalog

understandibly, since i really haven't heard of too many around this island.
but, maybe Oahu divers could submit the rare ones they do see..
so our page isn't so lonely.
Manta sighting submission form:
MPRF : Sighting Data Entry

all these links are from the "MANTA PACIFIC RESEARCH FOUNDATION"..
MPRF : What are Manta Rays?

"HAHALUA" is hawaiian for manta ray..

Well I submitted my sightings...and I tried to identify my pics with others but that didn't turn anything up. Oh well...we'll have to see if we spot some more tomorrow

I have seen mantas inside Kaneohe Bay twice, once on Molokini, and once on the BI. None of those encounters allowed me to take the photos you guys got. Cool dive!

Got some e-mails back mantapacific.org They let me name the mantas if no one has already. They also said they have a bunch for Oahu Manta submissions they still need to post. Hope they start the page going again. You all should check it out.

Small Manta is Emily and large was will be named Louise ;-) Ask VBlueV he picked the names.
