It really depends on the diving you're doing. I can do a dive in Superior (40F-55F) on air for 75min (total dive time) with 200g Bare underwear and my shell suit and not get too cool. An ice dive is cold enough for argon -- to me anyway. Helium cools you down pretty good too. Is it worth it? I think it is if the other choice is getting cold during a dive. If you're not getting cold during your dives, then it's not worth it -- obviously.

:doctor: According to Baumeister and Marks "Standard Handbook for Mechanical Engineers" (7th Edition....tells you how old I am!), thermal conductivity values are as follows:

* Air - 0.0140
* Argon - 0.00915
* Nitrogen - 0.0140

This if the thermal conductivity factor, k, which is in units of (ready for this?) BTU per hour per square foot per degree F per foot.

BTW, chlorine gas is only 0.0043. Just be careful where you are when you vent your suit!
