CONFESSION ........ I dived the lower caver solo. Not proud of it but it did happen,SORRY.

Reading this thread on Morrison's Spring almost has me wanting to try it again. Morrison was my third OW dive way back before time, after having made my first two OW in Merriots Mill Pond outside Marriana Fl. I thought my instructor was lost as we drove between those two springs. In those days Morrison's lower cave was a much more complicated dive, with two or more caves to explore and some really interesting holes to stay out of. Having done almost a thousand dives in that old hole in the ground I had lost interest in it. You people have revivied this old salts desire to once again 'plunge to the depths' and see the eels. Does anyong remember when the grass was so thick there that it was like diving kelp in fresh water?

Welcome to ScubaBoard jbeach

They blew the entrance to the cave system in the lower cavern, in '68 I believe.

I've only been certified for about 3.5 years, and diving Morrison for only about 2.5 years(maybe 80 dives onsite). I've never dived it with much vegetation in the water, although the Merrits Mill Pond has a ton of it, been there as well.

That cave has been blown a couple of times, and maybe even more. A lot of people have lost their lives in that hole. I was lucky to have a couple of 'old time' instructors way back when that believed in training the tough military way and taught me well. My very first OW was Merritts in that center cave, I had thought we were going straight down into the ground, and we were.. my second OW was the old 'hole in the wall, further down the river and I had to be pulled into that one the first time as well. It was the long, long paddle back up river to our trucks that really stayed with me though....

That you, Jerry?
I wondered where you got off to...
I hear Letohatchee ain't close to anywhere but the ground; I've been there and that ain't far off the mark :D
You probably don't remember meeting me as I only came in your shop on 331 a couple of times - I was gone from Montgomery courtesy of Uncle's Navy from '69 to 91...
Vince says "howdy."
Take care.
