That's the way I understand it. Its new this year and I have not been there since this went into effect. The tax counter is no more than 40 ft from the airline counter so it's not a major walk.

mauigal, I can recommend the buffet. Gibi is a great chief and a super nice guy. If you want the flavor of real Bonairian cooking and hospitality the BBQ is a good place to get both.
The goat stew...yummm.

Ok..... ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

guess I'll give it a whirl. I like lamb, but goats are garbage disposals, if it can go in their mouth they're gonna eat it.

we have 24 folks who will be there from 05-Apr to 12-Apr. can't speak for everyone but I am sure we can get 8 of us together for at least 1 dinner. what kind of info do you need from us?

mauigal,

I can make a reservation for you no problem for Monday night the 7th. Free Rum Punch starts at 6pm, then BBQ follows. You can call me at 717-5759 when on island to let me know how many, or if you get a count before you leave the states, you can call me at 866-790-7333. I will let Gibi know how many.

Thanks.

Liz

Oops just, saw posts on page 3...

You do have to obtain your boarding pass prior to paying your departure tax.

Funny story about the goat....I too was not keen on goat. Gibi would continually offer it to me, but I was afraid it would taste "gamey". One night he made me green bean stew which contains green beans, salted beef and other delicious meats and seasonings...(it is my favorite stew). Anyway, I was commenting to Gibi how good the "stew beef" was in the stew. He chuckled, and looked at Ed (hubby). In unison, they said "it's goat!". Needless to say, I now love the tender meat. Gibi raises his own goats, and I know they are corn feed....and delicious!

...PBD...Post Bonaire Depression. Depression, saddness and longing to return, it can never be cured however drinking Amsel while watching slideshows of your last trip helps. The first symptoms are discussions of the return trip before mid week of the first trip. :)

came home yesterday. booked return today. no reason fer depression.
