Countryboy and I met up for a few dives this morning in Newport. I thought this site was Harrison Ave and after checking the book again realized we were at Kings Beach Fishing area.
At the site the winds were probably 10kts from the west southwest. Ocean was a bit choppy but no huge waves or swells. We maxed out at @43' and water temps were 44degrees. Vis was 3-5' so we took our time looking for lobster under all the rocks and boulders. Did not get any keepers and caught 3 very shorts. There were no fish and I saw one tiny red starfish (seastar). This site is really nice and I would like to go back on a better vis day. There are several ledges about 100yards off shore which made for an interesting dive. Tons of places for life so this place must be teaming in the summer with all sorts of critters. So another great day of diving.
Also, after leaving the site I stopped at Wetherill on the way home. The waves were coming into both coves with some force. The water had that brownish color and I can only imagine that the vis must have been worse than 3' if that is possible.
