I'm buying my plane ticket the end of the week... I'm planning to be in the Philippines for 4 weeks this trip. Probably Anilao the weekend before Christmas for 4-5 days, then transfer to Puerto Galera for New Years. I should be traveling to Malapascua around January 6th with about 4 dive days...
I'm back! :) Arrived in Cebu yesterday. Was going to dive Malapascua this week, but weather was iffy today and I didn't want to take the bus all the way up and then not be able to get across. It also wasn't looking good Thursday or Friday next week when I would have been wanting to get back...
My apologies for the late trip report. Between the holidays, another dive trip to the Florida Keys, and working on getting my house and property ready to sell, Ive been distracted. I really should have started this sooner!:shakehead:
I woke up one morning in October and said, what the heck...
I thought people who visit this sub-forum might be interested in an excerpt from a book published just last year by a group of American researchers from California.... The book is called "INDO-PACIFIC NUDIBRANCHS AND SEA SLUGS-A Field guide to the World's most diverse fauna" by Terrence M...
I recently sent my Ikelite 6812.3 Housing for my D300 in for maintenance. With a 100 plus dives on it in the year I've had it, it was recommended that I do so.
It came back looking practically like new, completely refurbished with many new parts and updated electronics. Only problem was that...
The trip ended up being a bit of a process this time. I paid for the Tubbataha portion of my trip back in December. I had planned on going on the M/V Southern Cruise. That boat ended up not going out and I was switched to the M/V Borneo Explorer.
This necessitated some adjustments in my...
Time is approaching for my 4th Philippines trip in two years :)
It could very possibly be my last trip for a while (might squeeze in one more). I'll be transferring back to the US in January 2010. It wasn't what I wanted or planned on, but life doesn't always work out the way we plan or want...
I'm ready to add a second strobe. I currently have a DS125. I was going to purchase a DS160 since the DS125's have been discontinued, but now have the opportunity to add a second DS125.
I checked with Ikelite and they tell me that I will be able to hook a DS160 with my DS125 on the dual sync...
Just FYI for everyone... in the January/February 2009 issue of Scuba Diving Magazine the Philippines was consistently ranked in the top 10 in almost every category :)
Top Dive Destination (Pacific and Indian Oceans)
Rank #8 Who did we beat out? Some people will be surprised (but we're not)...
I would like to say thank you to all my friends from online who have always so freely given of their time in sharing their knowledge and experience. In particular I want to thank the members of Philippine Paradise Divers at www.scubaboard.com It was great to finally get to meet so many of you in...
I know a lot of people here have dived Anilao many times. I wanted to start some discussion and get input on the different dive ops there.
I'll be arriving on June 1st. I had originally thought about diving Anilao during the week and going to PG on the 6th. Looks like I will likely dive by...
Looks like I'll be in the Philippines from 1-15 June. I was told I should have everything approved by next week.
Planning on Anilao the first week.... who knows the second.... probably PG, but then I've been known to change my mind after I get there :D Anyone want to get together and dive...
What do you guys think about the other Philippine Paradise Divers that apparently has just been started on a rival to SB? Am I the only one who thinks they should have found a different name?
Moalboal-Part One
We were transported from Malapascua to Maya by boat. Our driver was waiting for us and from Maya we went by car to Cebu City. Steve my instructor for all my courses came along. A clip on one of the buttons for his housing had somehow came off and he had got some moisture...
Just got back to Japan from the Philippines on Friday night. It was cold and raining here of course. The days of shorts, t-shirts and sandals have come to an end until next year :-)
I'm going to probably do this in parts, since it's later here (after midnight), but I wanted to go ahead and...
