Recently changed work locations and looking for some new dive spots. Done most the normal stuff on the leeward and north shores. Like to dive before work and to make that happen I need to find somewhere closer to honolulu so I don't hit the traffic (work in Ft. Shafter).
Any decent shore dive...
Thanks for the feedback. Decided that the lithium may not be worth the upgrade at this time. Think I'm going to stick with SLA. Looking at new batteries.
Is there a reason Genesis batteries are so much more expensive? Seems like i can use Duracell or vmax batteries for half the cost with a...
Where did you source the batteries from? I don't want to cut it down too much, if at all. The long tube gives a lot of stability in current so I'd be more interested in increasing battery size for longer life.
I recently acquired an older 42AH Gavin scooter. I know the batteries are a little older and was warned they have limited battery life left. I was considering a lithium conversion. Anyone done this conversion before?
The plunger that activates the AV button on my canon camera is the rotating type that lifts and falls to hold the button depressed for shooting in manual mode. The plunger is not engaging the button on the camera because it is rotating too far counterclockwise. Is there a way to re-phase this...
I have an ikelite housing for an older canon 350d I'm learning on. The button that engages the av button isn't engaging the button on the camera, so I'm not able to use manual mode. Is there a way to adjust the part that sets the engagement for the shaft so that it engages the button on the...
little light work with a dremel can knock down the sharp edges on the plate and minimize the chaffing. I find it a little odd that the tri-glides would chafe the strapping that much. I've got more dives that that on both my plates, and neither is chaffing that bad on the tri-glides. Are there...
When i first started on my doubles i figured out I could either go slightly head down, or could pull the plate slightly higher by tugging down on my shoulder straps to make the valve easier to reach. Trim really is key, especially with big steels.
I haven't converted her yet. She's still in a stab jacket and split fins. I have a plate and wing for her but haven't gotten her to try it yet. Gonna powder coat them her favorite color when I get back stateside in hopes she gives it a try.

Couldn't agree more with the sea-sickness medicine. I have a well-stocked first aid kit that we travel with. It covers everything from over-the-counter medicine (to include decongestants and dramamine) to trauma dressings. We use the same first aid kit for everything for vacation travel to...
My wife recently asked me to write up a scuba post for the gear we take on vacation, and after much consideration I decided to ask for input from the experts. Her blog is a hobby and not profit generating so hopefully posting isn't against forum rules. Any feedback or criticism is appreciated. I...
I haven't gotten to dive more as often as I'd expected (long drive to the coast) but I have been very happy with it the times I've been able to dive it, and DRIS treated me great.

Yonaguni looks really promising! Thats the kind of cool location we were looking for.
Raja Ampat has been high on my listfor a long time, but the flight time, and price, are really high. Army doesn't pay me that well...
Wife and I are looking at taking another dive trip in January. We've already been to Thailand and the Philippines and want to try somewhere new. Seemed like most of Indonesia is closed that part of the year. We are living in Korea so we are looking at southeast Asia. Thought about Guam or Palau...
I have an Ikelite ds225 and need the adapter to charge it. I believe the Ikelite 4063.51 adapter is what I need. Just tryinf to test if my strobe even works, but won't know until i can charge it and test it.
