Truck in Lake hookup for Tow company

Diver0001, That is all excellent advise. Thank you so much for taking time to lay that out for me. It doesn't happen to often but sometimes I get calls to do things like this. Only 3 times in the past 4 years though. Only takes once to ruin you though. Next time, I'll draw up a document...

Truck in Lake hookup for Tow company

I recently received a call to rig up a chain on a completely submerged truck in a large private pond. I told them I'd do it unseen for 500.00 and they agreed so I went home, got my gear and did the job. Wasn't too difficult except for trying to pull a chain 50' while in water. LOL Price right?

    Oceanic Pro Plus 2.1

Cool. Please let me know. It's the one thing that PP2 is missing IMO.

    Oceanic Pro Plus 2.1

I love my PP2. I've just learned to keep it simple. Depth, Time left at depth, and Air pressure (Even when using nitrox). I used to download all of my dives to the computer but I've stopped doing that. I just do a quick log in the book. The only downside to that is the log doesn't show...

    Mapping a dive site

Got a pretty good map now using topo map and photoshop. Something that I can add to as time goes on.

Is Lake Texoma getting more clear visibility

I used a navigational map to pick out some spots to dive that showed "submerged buildings" just off of Preston Bend but the anchor wouldn't hold in that area for some reason. Need a bigger anchor!

    Mapping a dive site

These are Texas Lakes. Some small without Nav charts. But that does help with the larger ones! :)

    Mapping a dive site

I am looking for software for mapping dive sites. After collecting all data (depths, measurements, headings, etc), I would like to use a software that would be easy and intuitive to make a nice map for my personal files and also easy printing of such map. I've drawn out maps on graph paper but...

Is Lake Texoma getting more clear visibility

UPDATE: I've dove in Lake Texoma this year multiple times from a boat. South side of Treasure Island vis was a couple feet to 4'. The party island had about the same. Found some neat stuff there like sunglasses, party beads, etc. The Damn near East Burns run was horrible vis. The sediment was...

    Roatan Suggestions please

Do tell. Why wasn't the West End your thing? I only get one shot at this and I like to look at all information anyone wants to share.

    Roatan Suggestions please

Yeah, we don't go for hiking or zipline or none of that stuff. We like the Water and what's under it. She usually relaxes by the pool while I dive. But I do want our hotel to be near the dive shop. Within a short walk. I don't want to rent a car.

    Roatan Suggestions please

Probably 4 2 tank dives at least. I snorkel with her so once I come in from a dive trip, we hop on a boat and go snorkel. I'm in the water ALL DAY!

    Roatan Suggestions please

Isolation? Well, depends on the amount of Cruise Ship and other foot traffic. If there's a lot of that going on, I would prefer isolation if within means. We really don't have a budget per say but I expect to spend probably 1,200 for a hotel and whatever for the diving. Would appreciate a...

    Roatan Suggestions please

My wife and I feel that after Grand Cayman, and Ambergris Caye Belize, we have our sights set on Roatan, Honduras. I'm looking for suggestions such as accommodations, Dive Shops, What area of the island is best for shore snorkeling (for wife and I. She can't dive). Not necessarily looking for a...

Is Lake Texoma getting more clear visibility

OK, you have to share more than that. :D Where did you dive in Texoma? What was the visibility? Did you see anything worth making comments about? What was your max depth? What was the temp at depth? Anything else you would like to share I would love to hear. Sent Kunk a PM and we're talking...

Is Lake Texoma getting more clear visibility

I was told recently by a fisherman friend that the Zebra Muscles are clearing up the waters of lake Texoma. He said for the first time in 20 years he can actually see down into the water. So, I had to find out for myself. I took my boat out this weekend without any scuba gear and did some...

    Airway Control - Fog issues

I've been swimming most my life (most of it underwater) and have a habit of keeping my nasal airway open while swimming underwater. Just something that I developed from childhood. Now that I am diving, I need to learn how to not leak air (fog) from my nose through my mask unless I am inteding...

    overtasked

Great thread. I really enjoyed reading through this and learning from others. I may be that "new diver" in about 30 days so I'll work on my controlled ascents with extra care using a guide and gague and always plan on that safety stop. I'm thinking a little on the heavy weight side can be ok...

My first Ocean Dive - Grand Cayman

Thanks everyone for all the info. Very helpful. I purchased my own dive computer and regulator last week and tested it out at a local scuba park (2 dives). Very glad I made this purchase. Makes me feel more comfortable about the gear I will be using in GC.
