first, i have a g9 with the ike housing. does anyone have a good idea where and how is the best method to use the round moiture munchers so it does not rattle around inside and get in the way.
second, does the g9 require the blue tinted defuser on the strobe (i have the inon z-240) like other...
chris, i really liked your idea of having a lever machined for the zoom. i think it also needs a spring to take it back to nuetral automatically. keep me up on your ideas of doing it. i have a client who has a shop if you don't know of one. it would probably be cheaper to make several and we...
I agree with Stillhope on the focas and color. I think you can improve these quickly by getting closer to the subject and by using an upclose or wideangle lens. You hear get closer alot and you think you are doing it , but you can always get closer and i think you can. I always thought i was...
he said he used the ikelite w-20 wideangle lens but everything i have read said wideangle lenses do not work well on the g9. it looked nice on his pic. anyone else using it. tom
It was suggested that a panic diver would not just sink, however I have seen it happen. It is called passive panic and the person literally does nothing to help themselves and is not flailing around like you would expect. They are easy to pull up to the surface as a result. I am not saying he...
i have tried the burn it off method a couple of times and it has worked well. do a search here for it and you can see how to do it. easier on your thumbs than the tooth paste method.
on your sd630 you can hit the display button a few times and it will give you on the screen all the info regarding fstops and the like. with the 3 inch sreen it will help quite a bit
it sounds as if we all disagree but if you look closely you will see you are just getting different advice from all of us. the good thing is, all of the advice you have been given is correct. i agree with fairybasslet mostly about one thing , alcina is the best. she knows much more about the...
the shadow in the lower right corner is caused by the port of the canon housing and no diffuser can stop that entirely. learning the sd630 is not that big of a deal. you quite obviously want to learn to take better pictures or you would not have put them on here for our review. a stobe will will...
you need to get some kind of strobe, be it a starter cheap one or an upscale version. i use that same camera and i can tell you a strobe will make a hugh difference. you will never get the quality of shots you are looking for without one. tom
one important thing to consider is the ability to attach various lenses to the housing. with the canon housing you can not , with ike you can. to me it is a toss up on ttl vs. fiber. depends what strobe you want to use. ike is more expensive but gives you the most options for the long run. tom
the fallacy here is you assume that because there were problems with the line, the line was a bad idea and at fault. one can not jump to that conclusion. you still had very bad seas that would make it hard to stand on the deck ,which may be why they got in the line in the first place. you said...
speaking for the folks here who are fairly inexperienced but desperatly wnat to get better it really does not take long to separate the wannabe form the actually talented photographers on this board. there are several of you who really know what you are doing and and are kind enough to share...
use a guitar pick to get up under the o-ring and take it out. i don't have a reccomendation on a case as i keep mine in my backpack and have it in my hands at all time. i never check it on a plane. phan
i saw what looks to be a downer to me on the ike web site yesterday. Ikelite Underwater Housings for Canon G7 & G9 Cameras they have the g9 housing on it now but it says you can not use a wide angle lens on it due to the length of the lens if i am undersstanding it right. also there seems...
inon has not decided whether to support the dc21which would allow the attachments. ike is going to come out with the housing for the g9 sometime this month which will definately allow their use. it will need a mount though as i understand it but they are cheap. the ike housing will allow a hot...
i have been using it for about a year and have had great pics. you will want a strobe with it and you can get a mount for the canon housing to be able to use inon lenses, which are very usefull. tom
