I am going to be in Kihei from December 18-25 and was hoping to some shore diving. I am up for anything including being a back up DM for anyone with a large group doing a shore dive. My wife doesn’t dive, so I am just hoping to get my gills wet. I also do underwater video for the group for free.
Good tips, I had forgotten about those groups. Unfortunately, at this point my trip to Monterey will just be topside. Oh well, the ocean will be there later! Thanks!
Hi Matt,
I dove with your op yesterday and was really impressed. I am booked for tomorrow and the three tank on Friday. I would definitely recommend you guys to everyone!
I will be in Oahu next week looking to do some diving. I have dove there before, but not really familiar with all the diving. I am hoping to do the Sea Star wreck. How are the conditions looking and any recommendations on dive ops?
Sadly, NAUI has not been very good at competing with other agencies. I see fewer and fewer NAUI shops.
I am just going to have to remember to bring along one of my other cards. I should have known better, oh well.
Us tech guys are a small group. Most divers are the warm water take care of me types, but that is where the money is, so I won’t throw too much shade. It’s just a pain when we don’t see professional courtesy.
As a NAUI instructor you can teach a variety of basic courses. The idea is that they won’t certify you unless you are totally competent. I am not trying to dig on my PADI colleagues, we all know it comes down to the skills of the particular instructor. The big difference is that PADI is a...
Hey NAUI Peeps,
You may have had this experience where a dive op doesn’t accept your NAUI instructor card as proof for nitrox. Do you carry a nitrox card with you in addition to your instructor card, or do you ask them to phone NAUI? What is your experience?
Hi Ralph,
I am coming down to Palencia from June 5th-12th. I was thinking about doing the dive on the 7th. I have never dove Belize before, what is the dive like even if we don't see whale sharks?
I highly recommend Scuba Shack SCUBA Shack | The Best Dive Company on Maui.. They have a very nice boat and a very well thought out operation. The boat takes a maximum of 12 and leaves earlier than the other boats, which allows you to hit the sites before the other boats. Gear rental is included...
Thanks for the explanation, that does make sense. I have never used that setup, so I will defer to your experience. I imagine they are having major issues keeping their hands warm without that tubing.
I have to agree that they are demonstrating how not to ice dive. Right off the bat, why aren't they wearing dry suits? Why are they complaining about 15'+ vis? Line handlers, backup divers? I find myself yelling at the TV.
This is a used Bare CD4 Pro women's drysuit. It is in great shape with no leaks and new latex neck and wrist seals. It was recently serviced by Bare. It also comes with a Woman's Medium T100 thermal underwear.
