Bob Gadbois, underwater photographer, videographer and WBBM TV video producer.

Word came today (May 21, 2018) that Bob Gadbois, one of our longest serving and most active members of the Underwater Archaeology Society of Chicago, died this morning of cancer. He has been a remarkable resource not just for the UASC, but to the many diving organizations he has been part of in...

Oly PT-EP12 housing (for Pen E-PL7 camera) question

I bought a PT-EP12 housing, then discovered the lens port is designed for the 14-42mm ƒ3.5 EZ lens. The port is too short for either my 14-42mm ƒ3.5 II lens or my new 30mm macro. I don't think the pancake style EZ lens would be any sort of improvement over my existing 14-42mm Mk. II lens...

From the UASC board: On 01/05/2017 Bud Brain, a Chicago area diving legend, passed away at the age of 94. Many of us knew Bud, but for those that do not, let's just say that he was one of the pioneers of local diving. He caught the diving bug early and soon became a PADI diving instructor...

Bonaire old town site or old saltworks by Red Slave?

I was just google earthing (verb?) Bonaire and noticed there was what appears to be a street grid submerged in the evaporating pond opposite Red Slave. Is this an old townsite, fort or salt works? My impression was that the Rincon was located for defense purposes as well as to catch the cooler...

Wet mount dome lens question, Fantasea and/or Ikelite owners

I got sick and tired of trying to thread a 67mm wet mount lens onto my housing underwater. So I got a wet mount dome. Regarding wet mount Dome lenses. When you physically look through your wet mount dome lens do you see wavy distortion, like through a bad windshield, or just the circular...

    Wet lens fogging

Any way to cure central fogging in a wide angle wet mount lens? So far this has been a cold water issue (41-50 F). Would storing it in a very dry environment help? Maybe warming it, then placing it in a dry environment, packed in moisture munchers? Thoughts?

    Ikelite/Nikon P-6000 Housing dome port

Is there a dome port available for Ikelite's P-6000 housing? I could do some machining with a lathe to make something fit, just pondering the options. Also, my understanding of the dome ports is that relative positioning of the convergence point of the dome optic to the front of the lens...
