    Finished AOW today!!!

Yep. Anytime I want to blow some bubbles, he'll be happy to join in. It's handy that he has some tanks that he'll let me use as there is a close pond to play around with, all I have to do is pay for refills and find my own weights. Though, I do need 34 lbs to sink using a 7 mm wetsuit which...

    Finished AOW today!!!

Nope, we played with a tennis racket tied to a ball. Never felt anything strange. It took me a while to equalize and besides that my tank slipped free. I just held the tank and continued down and had someone help me put it back on. Joe Collins Paramedic/Firefighter

    Finished AOW today!!!

Today, I finished all the dives +1 for my AOW certification. It was one heck of a good time and I can hardly wait to continue my diving education! It was a great help having a DM trainee as my partner as he was able to help me a great deal with buoyancy, equalization, and air consumption...

Storage for computer, compass, lights, etc?

Me. I use one of these: Oceanic Worldwide - Scuba Diving Bags - Cargo Mesh Duffel I figure I spent a lot of money on my computer, octo, regulator, lights, etc, that spending $35 to protect it was not a problem. I fit it into my bigger dive bag without a problem. Joe

    Oceanlog 2.3.0 SUCKS

I agree. I've been writing software for 25+ years and am frustrated with a piece of software that qualifies as "user vicious." It shouldn't be hard to write a decent interface to talk with the dive computer. I write software for micro-controllers--some using bizarre protocols and I don't have...

Paramedic Training, Doing My Part, I hope. Medical pros

An instructor at the local college wants me to teach a class on scuba emergencies during the National Refresher that is held in the area. While we are in the middle of the country and don't have a lot of SCUBA around here, it is something that should be an interesting subject during what is...

    Getting Ready for Summer?!

I am up to 5 miles and it isn't easy--it isn't easy getting old and creaky! Then again, I have a 24-hour race in a month and a half and two marathons and at least one ultra-marathon scheduled this year. Also lifting weights to get ready to lug tanks and equipment around... Joe...

    Anxiety

My wife can swim like a fish, but was freaked out by the concept of being able to breathe under water. Lots of pool time, a very, very good instructor and going through procedures and practices until she can do them without thinking got her to the point where she could complete her OW with...

    Hello from the Quad Cities...

Hello all!!! New to the board and new to diving. My wife and I will be doing our Open Water class the first two weeks in October. Looking forward to the challenge. I work as a paramedic and am a volunteer fire fighter--someone mentioned that first time divers sometimes suck down a lot of...
