    Hello to all.

Welcome to the Board, be sure to tell us about your diving history: how long you've been certified, how much you've been diving and where.

South African Instructor Couple, now in Orange County, CA. Hi to all!

You'll love Catalina, great diving, and less of a chance of being eaten by something while diving than in your native land. :D

    Palau

Sorry about reviving an old thread and all, but, ballpark estimate, what's the experience level (in number of dives) needed to enjoy Palau, if diving with an instructor as your buddy and the really dangerous dives like Peleliu. I'm up to about 30-ish dives in mixed conditions in Hawaii, Grand...

    GC Dive Operator Recommendation?

I personally recommend Ocean Frontiers, great DMs, great service, great sites. They are a very well run dive op.

Various invertebrates and how they can hurt me

Well, the box jelly and irukundji are the real famous ones. Both are found in Australian waters, both appear seasonally. The irukundji would be small enough to swim in your wetsuit. Strangly enough, I heard they can't sting through nylon.

Who is spoiled on Carribbean diving only? no lakes......

Cold+less than perfect vis does not = bad when you're diving in the ocean, SoCal is cold, sometimes a bit murky, but definately beautiful. I am however superstitious against fresh water diving, it just doesn't taste right.

    Anacapa Condtions

I'm considering a trip to Anacapa this August, but I've heard that it's considerably colder there than most places in SoCal. I've dove Catalina with a 6-7mm suit and hood, but no hooded vest. Does Anacapa diving require more?

    Palau

Well, was it typically short and sporadic, or did it rain regularly?

    Palau

Do you consider late June better time, or is it rainy/stormy the whole summer?

    More-snorkeling-than-diving-related Question About Little Cayman

Thing is, I'm a diver and am looking for a trip in 07. I'm considering Little Cayman, among many others (I've yet to narrow it down), but the main thing I'm concerned about is finding a place where the snorkeling matches the diving, so a non-diving relative of mine doesn't feel left out. That...

Thanks for your replies everyone, one more quick question: Sand Dollar out of San Pedro, decent boat? Anyone use it?

    Best diving in Caribbean?

There are a few abandoned houses and crumbing walls here and there, but life seemed pretty much back to normal when I visited. When I dove the East End this April, the seas were moderate for three out of the four days, and up picked up to the getting bounce around a bit/slight discomfort level...

    Best diving in Caribbean?

Agreed, the East End of Grand Cayman is truly awsome. I dove there with Ocean Frontiers and had a great time. Truthfully, that's been my only Caribbean experience to date (California resident= Hawaii and South Pacific diver), so I have nothing to compare it to, but the East End of Grand Cayman...
