Minor PC/educational point since Marie somewhat hinted at it: "porter" is someone who transfers/carries gear. "Sherpa" is a member of, and an, ethnic group from Nepal and Tibet. So a porter in Mexico or Yosemite or the Amazon or anywhere you'll be diving or having an expedition is very likely...
No experience with the Waterproof but I switched from Arctics to Santi Flex190 and I find it to be warmer and higher quality, and can be ordered in custom size. I wear SmartWool baselayers underneath. Something to throw in your bucket of options.
Grab a small plastic bottle of Topo Chico or similar from OXXO; doubles as a fun physics experiment for how deep you need to go before it's doesn't fizz when you open it. 😂 [Spoiler: not that deep]
One of my H SMBs has a different thread on the OPV than on my wings. All my wings (H and OMS) are interchangeable so must be the SMB that's "non-standard". Something to verify before assuming that that one can be used for a spare for the other.
Hmm maybe y'all armchair quarterbacks should just wait for an official product release that says what the scoop is, before complaining about you-don't-even-know-what-yet! 😂
Not like you can just improv JetFins with bungee to make functional strap either, depending on the failure mode.
No prepared food like you find in the sandwich section in the US, have to get all the components. Both cold cuts and the panederia are in the far back/right side. Easy enough to find and all the baked goods are so cheap they're almost free, so try them all.
Most important Chedraui note: they...
Depending on where in PA you're staying, yeah it can be a little bit of a walk. Chedraui is indeed the main grocery spot. There's also two smaller places right inside the puebla, I forget the names, good for quick stops for essentials.
^ this. I felt like a complete noob the first half of the week during CCR1 and was soooo happy whenever I got to BO to the open circuit platform I knew and loved haha.
If the helium cost is reallllly that much of a problem in trying to bridge T1 to CCR1 then you can still "dilute" the...
I have 36" on swivel, 40" non-swivel. I prefer my non-swivel regs, the 36" is a little too long, I end up rotating the turret to point the hose down the cylinder anyway, kind of defeat the point.
Not-quite-a-class-report, but adding few data points and random musings based on what was asked/referenced earlier in the thread for anyone in the future. I took C2 a couple of weeks ago in MX with Chris.
* Our underground time in class was about 21 hours. We had a few 2+hr dives in there too...
Both of my fundies teammates did class in likely 7mm wetsuits with no issues other than being a little chilly between dives. If there's a local GUE community with a FB group, you might be able to snag a few things for cheaper than new like BP, harness, maybe a wing, regs. Around here someone's...
I would guess most (definitely many) GUE-affiliated dive centers rent 3l and BO cylinders and sell sorb, including Red Sea Explorers for the charter/destination side of the question as well (Egypt).
Was there for a week two weeks ago, first time. I did find the constant disinfection and rinsing multiple times a day such a PITA that while I’m glad I went and had a good trip, I certainly don’t foresee myself (or in general, understand) being one of those people with 5 or 7 or a dozen Bonaire...
Along with the cost of gas/time to drive to Long Beach to get to those places! :-)
Ever since my first time to the Coronados on WH since 2019, the visa fee has always been there. But I believe it's always been part of the booking cost iirc and only had to show passport at check in. I would...
