Hello and welcome to the nabe!
Currently the best of the "local" diving is down outside Richmond VA at Lake Phoenix. It's a nice quarry, but unfortunately traffic is back so the commute can get a bit rough. I think it's about 2.5 hours on a good day, and 6 hours on a really really bad day...
Originally the Prism2 shipped with over the shoulder counterlungs, and it's pretty darn flood tolerant. On the original setup the mouth piece is plumbed into the counterlungs independent of the hoses going to the canister in the back. It's got a good work-of-breathing and is fairly flood...
Shocked to see the news. My takeaways:
The Petrel 3, wow vibration. It was negligent that the prior models lacked it. Hammerheads had it how long ago? I guess better late than never but took WAY too long.
More pressure transponders is cool, do their in house transponders provide a greater...
Fun time! Thanks Captain Sinbad and good chatting with you again!
Minimum temp was 47 degrees. Wasn't too bad except for my hands when I took my gloves off for dexterity in removing fin. Then it became apparent. Viz was pretty good, but would have been better if we went to sunny area.
1...
I think I am going to attempt a Lake Phoenix dive (or two?) Saturday. I have drysuit and all that, but haven't been in water that cold in a while. But with ambient air temps so low, maybe the water will feel warm? Figure it's worth a try at least.
I have the fleece undergarment it came with...
I see these Silicone cases sold by US vendors for crazy high prices. Then I see them on Aliexpress for $3 or whatever but only for Perdix AI.
I have the Hollis (Petrel 2) and being tethered to CCR it tends to get banged around a lot.
Videos on youtube of making silicone phone cases look pretty...
Interesting pics from the FCC system on the new boards.
I can see two TI chips, then probably a MCU. I can't quite make out part numbers, but assume it's all software synthesized.
Good job on capturing the output. My ham radio didn't succeed, but maybe I will try a wire loop like you all have...
Northern Virginia here...
Juturna Springs was open for a few short bits before they hit permit issues or whatever. They have been working on it for years now.
Those regulations seem odd. "No dives deeper than 100’ unless diver uses a standard technical diving configuration approved by the...
Ah! Well if it's the wiring harness on the scrubber side, I believe that is replaced as part of the "annual" service kit.
Not vouching for this vendor at all, but I can see the cable in the pic:

Hello, in my case I narrowed out the o2 sensor by swapping them around. I figured it shouldn't be my harness because it was just 6 wires and 4 connectors. And mine was very clean!
It's been a while, but I did take and put deoxit on a qtip and carefully clean some of the contacts. But if I...
I saw the kits they had, but assumed the DR1205 is different than the DR1208, otherwise DR would sell the DR1208 kit as a maint kit for the DR1205?
Figure when it comes time to replace I will probably replace the DR with DGX Gears D6 stuff. Friend just ordered a set, I will check out his. But...
Yea I saw that. But I was wondering if regulators in general have a lot of re-label product that technically uses the same service kits. Since it's all made in the same factories.
Virginia Scuba is handling it, and I told them for this go around it's cool if they source whatever. But then I...
Was told by my local shop that the Dive Rite RG1205 regulator service parts are no longer available.
I assume most of these branded units are made in China and may share internal design across brands? How true is this?
Is there a cross reference of service kits?
There are still some dive clubs! Here in Northern Virginia/DC/MD there is one via Meetup.com that is shop independent:
Washington Area Scuba Club: A DC/VA/MD Scuba Meetup Group (Washington, DC)
I think Virginia Scuba has a club at their shop as well.
The yearly swap meet sounds cool. It is...
