I heard from an instructor in Thailand that about 80% of the hard corals in the Similan area were dead due to bleaching. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
Just found out from my local shop that Oceanic DOES have the parts and they are easily ordered for the Delta II. Apparently it just depends on who you talk to. Talk to a customer service rep there (At Oceanic) and you're likely to not get good information it seems. So hopefully I'll be...
Due to an unfortunate diving incident of a boat captain throwing my tank into the boat without any care in the world, I'm looking for a faceplate to the 2nd stage of the original Oceanic Delta. Calls to the Dive Shop (Who say they have called Oceanic) all lead to saying that Oceanic no longer...
Well it may be a mute point. If Sunshine doesn't reply to my inquiry, I could be left with Manta. I think Baja has changed hands so not sure how good they are now compared to before. (And I did see some of that stuff going around earlier) It's too bad it's so hard to find a good shop...
Bummer about Amigos. I was about to book them for a trip in August, but I really don't want dive masters that don't seem to care. I guess I'll have to try Manta or Sunshine instead.
Did Sunshine move into the spot of Baja Dive at Tesoro or are there just 2 shops in Tesoro now?
So what is the best time for going to the Bat Islands? If I were to go the first full week of November, think it would still be rainy? I'm thinking of going to Playa Hermosa again (was there in May of 2007) and trying to get to the Bat Islands, but not sure if that's still a viable time.
I've been diving in both areas.. I loved the boat rides out to the dive sites in Turks & Caicos, and the diving was really nice too.. But I thought the diving in Costa Rica, off the Playa Hermosa (Guanacaste) was better. Lots more of the bigger things were in Costa Rica. More sharks...
Yea, the night dive in Cozumel I did was pretty fun. I hope to post a Trip Report one of these days.. In the mean time, you can look on my web site for photos from both Cancun and Cozumel if you like.. Xtcscuba and XtcAdventures
For those that are interested, I just uploaded half a dozen more of the Bull Shark Videos from when I went with Scorpio Divers on the 16th of December. Take a look at them when you get a chance. YouTube - snorkymn's Channel
It was quite a dive that I'd recommend to anyone.
Oh, the other thread that contains the specific links for the Eagle Rays and Whale shark is here: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/cozumel/316098-whale-shark-seen-puerto-morelos.html
Hey everyone,
I hooked up with Ben and Jorge at Scorpio Divers for a week of diving in Cancun, and we did the Bull Shark dive in Playa on the 16th. (2 dives actually)
They do not chum, and maintain strict safety and standards.
I managed to grab a ton of videos of the sharks on my...
Yes, Doberman was definitely not the one grabbing the whale shark. It was some local youth who didn't know better. (Apparently from the park police!) This shark was still quite the beautiful animal though, even with the damage to his fin.
Those eagle rays around the wreck were a...
Hey Fellow Scubaboarders, I'm going to be in Cancun Dec 12th-19th and staying at the Oasis Viva Beach if anyone wants to hook up and do some diving. I'm trying to get some info from Ben at scorpiodivers to see what's up for diving and pricing and such. Let me know if you're interested.

Wow, I'm possibly going to Cancun next month and most of these posts seem like they're made as advertisements for the Dive Shops.. possibly by people working there.. It's hard to really know who to use.
I'll be at the Iberostar Dec 5th-12th. Sounds like a few others will be there then as well. Did you decide on your dive op? Dressel prices seem reasonable if paying in advance but have no idea how they are as an operator.
As a follow-up to my recommendation, Sam and Gary are the main dive guys at Dive Experience. Both are warm and personable and they'll take care of/set up all your dive equipment if you need/want someone to do that. Sam took a group of us to the pier for a night dive that was quite an...
