I'm headed to Roatan in about a month and for me the barometer is the cruise ships... As long as they are still showing up, crowding West Bay beaches and West End then chances are everything's fine. When the cruise ships start diverting I'll start to worry a little. The ships have a nearly...
What everyone's telling you is one wetsuit won't work for both MD and Belize. No "might" work, they are completely different conditions. Diving a 7mm in Belize you run the risk of overheating, uncomfortable at a min, passing out underwater is a realistic possibly as well. You might think of...
I use an Oceanic VT3 and love the download feature. I can take a look at my profile, put in notes for gear and weighting, etc. I can barely read my own handwriting and typing is way faster for me anyway. Especially when I'm on vacation doing multiple dives per day (coming in Aug!!) I expect...
Not sure where else to post this? I keep forgetting to ask local divers but they all seem to have the same collapsible table for gearing up. It's black and red plastic, square with 4 legs plus a metal pole in the middle. Anyone else seen this? Seems like some secret dive club. I couldn't find...
Nope. They stay in the computer for liability purposes... Seems all computers are this way. However I thought there was a function in the Mares sw to only import "new" dives?
I dive with a full kit but still rent tanks. It's been tough to justify buying tanks when fills are only slightly less than renting a full tank. However a few times recently buds have called with a last minute dive invite. I couldn't go because I didn't have filled tanks in the garage ready to...
I'd recommend the Zeagle Envoy as an entry-level reg.. Atomic makes great regs too. The scubapro regs are solid but pricey and hard to find discounted.
It's a good suit but I've never found much use for a 5mm. For warm water diving a 3mm is standard and in cold water you usually want a 7mm (or 7mil +vest/hood + gloves...) What temps are you planning on diving? mid-40s through high 60s I'd say 7mm, warmer than that 3mm. Colder than that, dive...
Danno, great info but you went way over my head. "Wow" is exactly what I'm looking for but I've never heard of MM 67 or waterfall beach. Have any more info?
There was a recent thread on using freediving suits for scuba. The general consensus seemed to be it's not a good idea. Difficulty of donning and easier compressibility were the main reasons IIRC
I'm in Norcal and given those two option I'd go with the Scout personally. I'm not sold on the zipper design of the Zeus. That's a great price on either model, well over 50% off!
Hoping to take some time off this summer and explore a few shore sites I haven't made it to before. So, what's your favorite shore dive site?
The easy answer is Point Lobos and probably takes my top spot. What about copper roof house and butterfly house? Monastery?
Please include why it's...
agreed that late Aug through early Oct is the best time around monterey and down the coast. Usually smooth water, not too much fog in the morning and still warm in the afternoons
