Go for it, we have an old 10cfm Bristol running nicely here that pumps good air day in day out after many years.
Get the air tested to remove any doubt.
I wouldn't worry about the pressure cut off, you want to be there draining water regularly anyway. Your pressure relief valve will stop it from...
I'd stick with the advice from Tbone, Rslinger and rddvet from above.
I basically followed Vance Harlow's advice when I built my stick a few years back, minimal outlay and it has run really well ever since. I fill half a dozen nitrox cylinders most weeks. I have really appreciated the normally...
Quite a few of my gauges have "popped" over the years. Not always a problem. They can be run dry or refilled with glycerine(mostly), generally a sign of a leak in the gauge tho. I usually keep using them, if they seem to read consistently, until the replacement arrives.
For what it is worth, I have two 4 cfm Walter Kidde's running in parallel, electric powered.
With a long snorkel running outside my garage and a silencer on the end none of my neighbours have ever complained.
It makes all the difference.
I just asked them tonight and confirmed that noise has...
I have never regretted building my compressor system.
If you do your research, start small and buy carefully you can make it pay for itself.
According to my logs my first compressor paid for itself in the first two years.
This didn't include costs of driving back and forth to the fill station...
Not really necessary but I had some of the bits laying around so have started on a storage system build.
Yet to see if it is worthwhile but I have really enjoyed the research and knowledge building that it has allowed.
My wife is very unsure regarding the necessity but here I am.
Currently...
Right you are windyairman, I should have known that from previous advice that you have given to others, somehow I was still looking at the English site.
There is the document exactly as you described, now saved to my file.
Thankyou. I will start having a closer look at it in the next couple of...
Thanks Tracy, I have yet to have a look at it to figure out what it is doing, need to make up a frame to remount it and the engine to get it turning again to diagnose.
Figured that trying to track down a manual was a good starting point.
Thanks for the info, the Capitano 3rd stage is an...
Hey All,
A mates old compressor unit recently ran out of puff, his local compressor guy didn't want to touch it since it was so old. He has since bought another compressor so I now have the old one to fiddle with and see what needs to be done.
Stupidly, we scavenged the base plate, coalescer...
The easy way I did it was to use my partners treadmill, I had been complaining about it taking up space in my workshop.
A couple of lengths of inch RHS with some threaded rod and some rollerblade/scooter wheels worked a treat. Just have a leash running off the front tying to the legs of the...
Tapping a thread might sound a bit dodgy but it may work.
Is the hole drilled in an accessible area of the housing that doesn't foul other connections/threads? All those threads share the load and with some thread tape or liquid sealant you might have a winner. Every other fitting is screwed in...
Bum steer, sorry. Really is unfortunate, he was one of the most helpful guys I found in a country-wide search at the beginning of my compressor research/building.
Looks like an awesome unit. I doubt that there is anything wrong with the current filter housing, most likely never had too many cycles through it.
But, since you are in Adelaide, go and see Rob from Dependable Distributors, they have been dealing with compressors for years and offer all sorts...
FWIW I recommend Komodo. Had a great trip last may. Liveaboard gives the chance to see further out than day boats.
I went with Dive Komodo on the Tatawa and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Excellent crew and dive guides/instructors, boat in excellent condition, we were well fed and had...
