    The $500 question?

I am a newly certified diver and I have a little issue. I own mask, fins, snorkle, gloves, hood, wetsuit, drysuit (got it at a great price from a friend) boots. The only things I dont own are, well the most important. With that said I can not afford to rent equipment every weekend and I cant...

    I'm Back!

Hows everyone doing these days? I am back from a short break away from the boards and newly certified in Open Water, Dry Suit and Nitrox. It has been a couple of rough winter months for me as I took my initial classes back in December. The local quarry by me was only open one weekend a month in...

How to pay babysitter when taking her on a trip?

I would have to agree with most of the advise on here except to not bring the baby sitter and use the daycare / nanny / sitter that the resort offers. I can't see leaving your kid with some stranger (yes I know the word stranger was already debated, no need to go there again) especially when you...

    Breathing in through nose

This is all great advise. I had the same problem during my OW class and I even posted about it. I know where your wife is coming from and it sucks. With some practice like she has been doing though it should be cake to swim around with no mask just breathing from her mouth.

    What would you do?

I would have laid the smack down on their azz lickety split then gave out my card to their students. No seriously I would have wanted to and prolly would have said some smart azz remark because thats who I am. Cant imagine you make a killing off teaching diving so would have been no big loss if...

    Medical Release required once certified

Well almost 9 moths ago you should be ok. I am no doctor but I have also had back surgery. I had 2 slipped disks and a fractured vertabrea. They took bone from my hip and fused it into my back and also put a plate with some screws in my back. To this day I have pain. Every morning, afternoon and...

Urgently need help with dive computer!

I would think this is a good aproach, but remember be nice about what you want. Then if all else fails tell them to shove their computer where the sun dont shine and run to buy a new one before your trip. I know not ideal but what else can you do if they dont / cant fix it.

    Beneath The Sea 2009

I will be there this year for the first time. Is this like the big hunting show they put on in Harrisburg, PA (except for SCUBA) where you can find good deals on equipment and trips? I also looked on their website for ticket prices and I could not find out where just one day tickets were.

Rescue Diver and the Case of the Missing Snorkel

We could sit here and debate all day long as to SHOULD you use one, SHOULD you have to use one? I think the question you asked do you NEED one? (EDIT: you asked if you should buy one.) This has been answered in Steve 50's post. You must have one, it says so in the instructor manual and if an...

I'm excited -- a new option for getting certified

I would have to agree with ScubaSteve that in todays economy I dont know that someone "new" to the sport would want to shell out a couple of hundred dollars more for a course they can get from PADI / NAUI for less.
