    Cancun, Cozemel or VP?...

I dove on both Cancun and Cozemel last week. Cancun had better reefs and more large sealife and the coral was great. In a two tank dive out of Manta Divers in Cancun, with Miguel as the dive master, I saw - Three Morays, one spotted and two green with one of the greens going 6 feet, a 6' nurse...

Newly serviced reg as an inleak

With my thumb over the inlet, I still get a slow leak down. There is no sign of an outleak under pressure. Stan

Newly serviced reg as an inleak

Yes and yes. If I pull a vacumn on the mouth piece, if only holds for a couple of seconds. It might not dive wet enough to spoil a dive, but then again it might.

    Is tethering dangerous?

If you're diving really bad vis, a buddy is useless. In essence, you're diving solo. If the buddy can't see and respond to hand signals, either dive as a solo diver or call the dive. Stan

Newly serviced reg as an inleak

I checked out my reg after an annual service and when I draw on it I get a noticeable leak. I'm leaving for Cancun in the AM, and am concerned about it diving wet. I replaced the tie strap and no joy. How can i tell if it is a serious problem? Reg is a Sherwood Maximus. Thanks, Stan

    Need a quick question answered...

I'm headed for Cancun in the morning also, and I will be carrying on my regs and computer. First, I'll be sure if I get there they will as well. Next, in my Delta platinum days, I've seen handlers 'toss' luggage for distance out my window seat. I know it's ugly, but I don't want my life...

    Assessing A Solo Dive

Any good diving book will give you the same basic information. I think the only real difference in solo diving is that you are placing more risk in the operational capacity of your gear. A minor failure with a buddy can represent an inconvenience, but solo it could lead to serious injury. Stan

How many dives did you have?

I had about 5. My training at the time was first rate and my early solo dives could have been made with a snorkel. Having said that, when you "know" that you will dive safe and have the necessary equipment to feel comfortable, you're ready. Stan

    Scuba...the "rich man's" sport

The average diver wasn't included in the survey because he coudn't afford the 3.75 for the mag. P.S. Love the Dali, I have a signed one in my dining room. Stan

    Dir & Gue???

Profit - nonprofit - no profit. Who cares. I'm not diving with no stinking body that isn't worth making a living. They eat - someones got to pay, remember, no free lunch. GUE, just another acronym with some good people behind it. Stan

    "Old" scuba gear

Hey, in general the new stuff works great. If you have any problems with the old stuff, ditch it. Parts are hard to find in some cases and most shops are not familiar with the excentricities of old gear. The great fear I have of old gear is having it fail after spending 3 grand on a dive...

    Post your best diving tips!

Never waste grain alcohol. Bacus will get you. Drink the grain alcohol after the dive. It won't help your ears, but your ears won't bother you as much. Stan
