It rocks!
I thought this would take me 10 dives to get used it. I jumped in the water the first time and everything was perfect. It feels like freediving, it's so streamlined...
(I'm using 6lbs weight belt with HP100 steel with 7mm wetsuit+stuff , I'm 178lbs.)
I've been through this recently...
I suggest buying your own BCD first. With your personal BCD, you can fix your trim quickly in a few dives and focus on learning diving skills. My recommendation is to pick a used but well maintained backinflated BCD.
Unfortunately, as a beginner diver, it is...
Thanks Nereas, I grew up in Izmir, however didn't scuba dive in that area. AFAIK tourism dies after october and all coastal towns go to sleep until next year. I've been abroad for a while now and I have no idea how local scuba shops work. If they all close down, then I'm probably out of luck...
(I'm not a DIR authority nor DIR trained.) My only concern would be having a yellow backup regulator. This might cause a traditionally trained non-DIR buddy (which is against the DIR rules AFAIK) to try to yank your backup regulator in OOA situations since it's yellow.
I would avoid bright...
I'm going to Turkey in the middle of November this year to Izmir/Cesme/Alanya
and possibly other coastal cities in between Izmir/Alanya.
Are diving schools/clubs still active at this time of year? I'll take my
equipment with me if I can do 2-4 dives over there.
It may also be possible for me...
Ideally, I'd try to get those gauges on my wrists as well. (Except for the analog SPG.) Personally, I like this setup since I don't have to deal with a big console and I can see critical information anytime. In a horizontal position, your wrists are right in front of your eyes.
Personally, I...
I so far did 40 dives with mine and never used the pull pump. Rear valves and inflator itself work well for me.
Besides, I heard that this feature has some risk since it encourages divers to get used to pulling the inflator hose which is too critical of an equipment to be handled in this...
Here's one question, DSS recommended weight belt instead of integrated weights. I'm considering 2 very small weight pouches on my Hog belt for 2x4lbs that I need. Any recommendation for this?
I'm not against the weight belt, but a hog harness/buckle plus another
belt with another buckle...
evil_xlander, I've seen your pictures of DSS setup many times. :-) Looks so cool!!!
TSandM, I appreciate your help. I'm very excited about this new toy!!

I chose 30lbs because it's cold water (50-52F) here in San Diego. I (176lbs) dive with 14lbs of weights, 7mm wetsuit/hood/booties...
DSS SS BP
LCD30 Wing
Hog harness
After ordering online, I received a call after 10 minutes. DSS verified my order and made sure I ordered the right size and right equipment.
Excellent job... I'm very pleased and extremely excited to set this rig and start
using it!!!!
Thank you all for your help...
I just got my reg setup changed. Now, the backup S600 with bungee is on 22inch and the primary S600 is on a 6ft hose. I tried this (not yet in the water) and it feels perfect. Just perfect!
(I and my buddies, we ascend above 100ft before we hit 2000psi. This must...
Thanks all for the excellent advice. I'm planning to get an SS BP but with those new wings that don't require a STA.
(I looked at Oxycheq Mach V, but scubatoys says this needs a STA while oxycheq's own web site says it doesn't???)
Sounds like a DSS hybrid will fit me the best. I keep about 6 lbs in the top
trim pockets anyway and it's nice to have this lbs configurable rather than a
hard set 6 lbs on my back.
I'm looking into changing my setup to DIR in the future. Currently, I dive with single HP100 steel and AL80's with a zeagle ranger ltd using 7mm wetsuit/boots/hood. I'm a
recreational diver. But I want to do it right, comfortable and safe...
I weigh 176lbs and I use 14lbs with HP100. 4x2 lbs in...
I would recommend looking at other equalization techniques as well. For beginners, valsalva technique (pinch nose) can hurt ears since it's easy to force an excessive
pressure to the eustachian tubes. I'd recommend trying the swallowing technique or
moving jaws side to side for equalization. If...
Breathe like you are in sleep (this is x seconds in, x seconds out type of
breathing), but use your diaphram. Practice this by watching your stomach,
it should expand/shrink. A slight pause after the inhale will also
maximize your lung efficiency (this doesn't mean hold your breath, keep your...
Thanks TSandM, sounds like I should try the 7ft hose.
I'll probably be able to route it under the BC pocket. There's a
corner there between the
cummerbund and the pocket. It might be able to hold the hose. If not,
I'll attach the hose to that area with a hose holder which releases with a yank...
