    BPW for 10 yo

When I taught my daughter how to dive in the pool I just bought a used XS small women's BC for her ($50). It did the job for the pool but was still big on her (she was 8). I didn't want to invest too much in case she didn't like it. (I quickly discovered she is part mermaid!) So knowing she was...

    Dive reports with beach/weather conditions

I went out last Sunday (5/25), from the South End of Venice Beach. Viz was about ten ft at best. Found some nice teeth around the concrete artificial reef boulders that have been dropped on the reef in that area. There was a surprising amount of fish life there too which was good to see.

Thanks! Although that is a shame no one is posting on here anymore. This was always a good place for updates.

    Dive reports with beach/weather conditions

How are the beaches looking right now for shark tooth diving? I'm planning on coming this Sunday for my daughter's first beach dives.

RMS Lusitania - sunk 110 years ago today

That was phenomenal! Thank you so much for posting that. It is amazing that you have dived such an important part of maritime history. Please keep posting your videos!

Info How Britain’s Secret Decoy Ships Outfoxed German U-Boats During World War I

That was really interesting, I'd never heard of the Q ships before. And the photos of the submarine showed it to be in really good condition. I bet it was an amazing dive.

    Cave Navigation Book

That is how I use REMs (thick end out) and how I believe they are generally used. The book explains this in the text, and how REMs are positioned and used. It does explain how it is diver preference, and the whole point of a REM is that it is only directional to the person who placed the REM...

    Cave Navigation Book

They actually suggested not using presence markers, but they acknowledged that some people do use them. That is why they showed the diagram. That was something I liked about the book. Where there are two options for a procedure, they presented both methods with clear diagrams, while giving...

    Cave Navigation Book

I ordered from IANTD Europe and after emailing them, I was able to organize delivery to the UK. I am pretty sure they can deliver to the US as well. I recommend emailing them before you do the PayPal payment as it is not super clear when they are processing the payment as to what you should pay...

    Cave Navigation Book

Attached are examples from the book showing examples of marking a T junction, a jump using a single (team) marker, and a jump using personal markers on the jump line. There are multiple examples of each situation in the book. Showing the line coming from different directions, different layouts...

    Cave Navigation Book

So I finally got to read the book after having it delivered to the UK. It still cost $50 all together with shipping which was excessive, but it is a quality book. It is definitely written from a Mexico cave perspective but I believe most of what it says applies to us in Florida as well. As...

    Doubles Wing Recommendation

Another vote for the Dive rite classic XP. It took me a while to pull the trigger on it because I thought it was too much wing for me but it has been perfect. From double ALU 80s all the way up to double LP104s with an Alu40 deco and an ALU 80 stage, it can handle them all. It is a great wing...

Question Do you take detailed notes on your dives?

When I first started diving Ginnie I drew a map of the lower section, with all the lines and intersections and kept it in my wet notes. I have only had to look at it once, (when I got confused doing the Expressway tunnel for the first time), but it was always reassuring knowing I had it should I...

    Review Review: Orcatorch ZD710

I was given the light in return for posting a review on it. I had been looking at a buying a different Orcatorch light, but I saw the ad for testers here on Scubaboard so ended up with the Zoomable light instead.

    Review Review: Orcatorch ZD710

I was fortunate to test the OrcaTorch ZD710 Zoomable dive light. For the test dive I took the light to Ginnie Springs in North Central Florida. I was curious how the narrow vs wide angle beams would look in the cave. The two photos were taken outside the spring, showing the size of the light on...

Who did you order it from? I tried ordering through IANTD CE but it doesn't want to work.
