    Single dad with young son

I'll be taking my son on vacation this summer and am looking for a child-friendly location where he can participate in activities during the day while I get in an occasional dive. Someplace in the Med would probably be best. Any recommendations? Phil

    Woman alone--Sharm or MarsaAlam?

Sorry for getting off track. As I get older I tend to ramble and forget the subject. While I was in Sharm, I encountered, on seperate occasions, two women traveling alone and enjoying it immensely. Both women in their 20's, I think. One Dutch and the other British. Don't know if they were...

    Diving in Amsterdam area

Since you're from PA, I'll guess that you can handle cold water, so if you have the time available, bring your gear and get down to Zeeland. The guys are right...there's nothing worth seeing in the immediate vicinity of Amsterdam. I think May is mating season for cuttlefish ( Sepias), so that...

    Woman alone--Sharm or MarsaAlam?

By the way, Belushi and Mania are both correct: no one cared that I am American. The subject occasionally came up because of my accent. On those occasions we simple discussed where I grew up, not my political views. And I certainly felt safer than the years I spent living in Washington, D.C...

    Woman alone--Sharm or MarsaAlam?

I felt perfectly safe. Never gave it a thought. I'm an American, too, but I've spent most of my adult life living in other countries. If someone decides to target citizens of any country, those citizens will not be safe even in their own homes. I went to Bali last year and observed the...

    TX100 first stage problem

So, here's the end of the story. Had a chance to take my reg to a shop yesterday. Lo and behold, the IP was spot on! Pressurized the reg and no freeflow. The tech can't think of what could have caused the problem. Nor could I or my buddy. He opened the first stage and said it looked new...

    TX100 first stage problem

I don't have one, but luckily I can get it serviced tomorrow while I wait, which is handy since I had planned to take it with me to Sharm. What I don't understand is how the IP would suddenly change so drastically. You are right...I kept one second attached with the idea or seeing whether or...

    TX100 first stage problem

I had the spg, drysuit inflator hose and bc inflator hose on the first. The inflator hoses weren't connected to the suit or bc. I put in the port plug in place of the octo before I tried again.

    TX100 first stage problem

This morning, while preparing for a dive, I hooked up my tank and my Tx40 second began freeflowing. I thought it was some grit or something in the second stage. Nothing there. So I removed it from the first stage and re-pressurized the regulator. To my surprise the TX100 second began...

BC advice: intermediate diver looking for versatility

Hi JMG, First, welcome to the board! I own a Balance and use it for both cold water drysuit diving as well as a travel bc for warm water destinations. I love it, but it would a good idea for you to try others, as well, as I did. Perhaps the Balance lacks features you would like, or another...

New member from Gozo for Scuba Board!

Hi Mark, Welcome to the board! I remember meeting you last year when Moby was at the travel show in Utrecht. I'm the American guy who was collecting brochures from everywhere. I hope to come for a few days to Gozo this year and dive with you. But first I'm off to Sharm al Sheik next...

    Best computer for older eyes.

I bought mine because it had the largest numbers of any computer I've so far seen. But even so, I wound up cutting the wrist straps off and tie-wrapping it to my console so it would be far enough away to read. Phil

    Pictures of underwater Sharm

Until I go to Sharm. Until then, I suppose it's Vinkeveen, or Zeeland if I have time. Great photos! I especially like the turtle. Be sure to write a trip report for us to read when you have a chance. Watersprite, still a "warm water" watje? Phil

    Red Sea- sharm depths

But my understanding is that most dive guides are fairly strict about the limits. But from what I also gather, there are plenty of sites offering lots to see shallower than 18 meters. Be sure to let the operation with which you are diving know that you are not AOW so they don't put you on a...
