    Cozumel Trip Report (Oct. 4 - 11, 2006)

In photo #0042, I'm holding a camera, but it isn't mine. I'd swapped cameras with a person I was diving with. He then took a photo of me with my camera, and I took a photo of him with his camera. Then we swapped cameras again. My camera is a SeaLife Reefmaster DC310 (3.3 mp) with a wide angle...

    Cozumel Trip Report (Oct. 4 - 11, 2006)

I'll probably be back in Coz this winter (if I can stay away that long!). I hope the price of airline tickets comes down a bit, though. I didn't dive a cenote; the emphasis being on the walls and reefs off the southern end of the island this trip. According to my trusty Aeris Atmos2 dive...

Back Injury From A Back Roll

Thanks for the info and suggestions. I think the most likely scenario is that I was sitting too far forward of the edge, and my lower spine rolled over the edge of the boat as I entered the water. It is a lesson learned the hard way; however, I'm very glad this happened on my last dive, and...

Back Injury From A Back Roll

I made 12 dives in Cozumel last week. All entries into the water were done via a back roll. On my final dive, I injured my back. When I rolled into the water, it felt like I had rolled over something on the railing of the boat as I slipped into the water. My lower spine was impacted in the...

    Cozumel Trip Report (Oct. 4 - 11, 2006)

I arrived in Cozumel, Mexico on October 4, 2006 and began my week of diving the following day. I made a total of 12 dives during the next six days, and they represent some of the most beautiful and adventuresome diving I’ve done so far. Most of the people I met in Mexico were friendly and...

Planning a trip to Belize... Questions

I spent a week on Ambergris Caye in June, made 12 dives with Protech (they were great). The barrier reef is about a half-mile offshore. I didn't see anyone shore diving (it is not recommended because of all the boat traffic). I didn't rent a car, everything I needed was within easy walking...

Diver Death - Request For Information

The family was notified on Sunday, August 13 of the death of a divemaster who lived in (or near) Virginia Beach, VA. In accordance with the rules of this forum, the name of the deceased is not being listed here. It is thought at the present time that the death was dive related and occurred off...

    Recommendations for upcoming Belize trip.

I returned from Ambergris Caye in June. After talking with my brother, who has dived the Blue Hole, and Protech owner Peter Jones, I decided to not to dive the Blue Hole. Personally, I feel it is an expensive "trophy dive" that I can do without. However, I did make 12 of the most beautiful...

    Belise Diving

I had a great time diving with Protech in June. They are located on the beach, about a 5 - 10 minute walk south of the airstrip.

    O-Ring Failure

Glad you are okay. Talk about "close to home"; I dive Jocassee almost every weekend (usually Sunday afternoons) from April - October. Stop by and say hello if you get a chance, look for a blue/white folding lawn chair on the diver's ramp, all gear sitting on a camo tarp and "ScubaToys" duffle...

    Ambergris and Internet Access

I used CocoNet, about a 10 minute walk north of the airstrip. They offer 15 minutes of free Internet use if you buy a drink (Diet Cokes were $1.50 US when I was there in June 06). There are several other places as well.

    Ambergris Caye, Belize - June 4 - 11, 2006

I arrived in the town of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye, Belize on June 4, 2006 and began my week of diving the following day. I made a total of 12 dives during the next five days, and they represent the most beautiful and adventuresome diving I’ve done so far. Most dives were made on the...

    Yes- I'm an Idiot

Taking photos on a dive in Key Largo when my partner started frantically pointing at a nearby area. I didn't see anything to take photos of, but he wouldn't stop with the gesturing so I finally swam over to the spot and reached for my $700 camera to take a photo of whatever it was he was so...

Whats Your Average Number Of Dives A Year?

I made 90 dives my first year. Now 4 months into my second year, I've made 50 so far. Key Largo and Belize were a blast.

    Vortex Spring?

Vortex was my first FL spring and my first cavern and I enjoyed it. However, that was a while back when it was $25. Now, I'd probably get fills at Vortex and then dive Morrison (which is exactly what I plan on doing around the end of June).

    Key West Diving?

I was there in June 2005, and really enjoyed the diving. Shown below is a portion of my trip report that's at my web page: "(Key West, FL, June 7 - 8, 2005) These dives were made with Dive Key West (800.426.0707). I was very satisfied with the diving and their service in general, and plan to...
