    Starbucks' is Open in Cozumel!

Greeting from (semi) sunny Cozumel!!!! Very, very last minute trip... booked flights on Monday and arrived Thursday. Ha ha... we just had to stop and get our pics taken at Cozumels newest, hottest place!!! This image may give you a better idea of it's placement (if you know the lighthouse...

Best back-to-back dives in Coz? (vote!)

Merry Christmas!!! Note when this thread was started. I knew this all sounded oh so familiar...

Shopping DSLRs and Housings, and a bit overwhelmed

Maybe a better option would be to spend a couple hundred on a photography class... just a thought :14: Not trying to make assumptions, just trying to get a handle on how you shoot... Manual? Aperture Priority mode? Automatic? The quality of my pics increased dramatically when I got a grasp on...

    Starbucks' is Open in Cozumel!

Here's an article that just came out in the Chicago Sun-Times today that I thought was topical. It measures your SBQ (Starbucks Quotient) to see if your neighborhood is "happening" or not. It's measured by Zipcode which is wildly inaccurate since neighborhoods change block by block in this city...

    Starbucks' is Open in Cozumel!

Sweet!!! I'm partial to Caribou myself but I settle for Starbucks on occasion :14: It'll be interesting to see if I actually will stop in next time I'm there... I have no issues with the "americanization" of Cozumel. Punta Langosta took care of that a looong time ago! As you said, it's...

    Cozumel w/ 60mm macro, September...

Nice job! Everything looks sharp and in focus. Ahhhh, someday I'll join the DSLR arms race... If that's the same seahorse I found last year it once again proves what a small world we live in! There are 2 photo classes coming up at the Shedd... interested? Maybe that's the only way we're...

I Was An Idiot - Reluctant Confession from a Former Compact Camera User

Very nice argument there but you're preaching to the perverted, at least as far as i'm concerned... as soon as I can afford it I will house my DSLR. One thing you did not touch on were the write times to RAW (or did I miss it?)... oh, that and the price ;) Nice pics by the way... hope to...

    SP550 Underwater?

There are some good shots out there with the 350, keep searching... my galleries are below. All the pics from Turks & Caicos and my last trip to Cozumel are taken with my SP-350, Inon Z240 (?) strobe and Oly Housing. Most of the Coz pics were taken in Aperture priority, T&C was full manual...

Renting a car in Playa Del Carmen???

There should actually be Executive representatives on the ferry. You tell them what you want, they will radio ahead and have someone meet you at the ferry pier. Prepare to walk fast 'cause it's back a bit and they don't wait up! Prices are higher in Playa than Coz... If you can get a price from...

    El Cantil Studios???

Yeah, I'll chime in... wait, I guess I don't have to. Christi just covered it :) I very much like the bigger condos at El Cantil but the studios are just not worth it. The "Ocean View" is very misleading... yes, you can see the ocean, but you have to be on the very small balcony to see it. We...

    Canon A620 or Olymus SP-310?

If going the Olympus route, I would lean more towards finding an Olympus SP-350 instead of a 310 as it has a hotshoe which will give you more options for strobes. You can't go wrong with either choice, both have proven themselves to be very good (but neither perfect) cameras. Someone correct...

    Downtown hotels/ dive ops

Saw THIS Deal on a different website... As I said in my PM, Casa Mexicana isn't necessarily "cheap" but the free days will offset the costs quite a bit.

    Greetings from sunny Cozumel!

Happened to us too last year... D'oh! I guess the locals know best. Gordon... thought of you yesterday, I'm here in the Turks & Caicos and had by first Turk's Head Amber... It'll definitely give the Leon Negra a run for it's money. The Lager tastes similiar to Sol but the Amber is something...

    Ok, here it is...

Yep... we're taking over the Aggressor for a week. Will definitely let you all know how it went. Taking off in 10.5 hrs!!!!

    Ok, here it is...

He he... but I know I'll be there next March! :D Turks and Caicos is EXPENSIVE... all you Cozumaholics keep that in mind when you're searching for a "cheap but good" dive op. They're ALL cheap and good compared to the prices in T&C! Since we're kinda hijacking - Once again... Nice job Sharky!!!

2 Questions. Best night dives sites? and

Yeah, but would it be worth it for a 40 minute dive? LOL Ummm, to clarify... I can last longer than 40 min, but I'm sure the dive ops down there call 'em early
