Warped Dive World Evolution - BP/W Subgroup Mindset

Well, that is exactly why I was debating with myself. On one hand he is being inflammatory (a classic troll maneuver) but on the other he is isn't actually breaking the TOS. Hence me still debating but taking no action.

Warped Dive World Evolution - BP/W Subgroup Mindset

I have debated with myself on multiple occasions whether or not to report the OP for it's inflammatory title and obnoxious quote. I haven't done it yet so I guess I probably won't but it is clear that Halemano has an agenda. I bought my BP/W untried and unseen after doing hours and hours of...

Do you use your SAC for anything? POLL

I've wondered this too on occasion after running my own numbers and plotting out rock bottom pressures for a multitude of cylinder sizes and depths. The conclusion that I came to was that the skipper/DM/operater/guide/whoever probably (correctly imho) believes that most divers don't know how to...

Do you use your SAC for anything? POLL

SAC stands for Surface Air Consumption. It is your breathing rate realated up to how much you would be breathing on the surface. Depth does not affect your SAC (beyond the indirect effects like stressing you out and increasing WOB ... which is minor).

    Shark shield help

I have heard ... and remember now that this is just hearsay ... that the Shark Shield draws sharks in towards you but then stops them at a few metres away from you. Sort of like luring them in and repelling them and at a certain distance (a few metres away) the repelling action and the luring...

Do you use your SAC for anything? POLL

Just out of interest aquaregia what do you mean by "working SAC"? Is that your SAC while swimming or something more strenuous than that?

Just went on a buying spree...

I ordered a Fusion from DRIS since they aren't available locally. I'm not worried about fit because the Fusions are so very forgiving in size differences. Which shop is that? The only dedicated drysuit place I know of in Cape Town is Blue Flash and Grant only repairs drysuits and doesn't sell them.

    Anyone dive with a Camelbak?

+1 for Capri Suns. My buddies all laughed at me when I pulled one out on the safety stop after a deep dive but that little boost from sugar was worth it. Not to mention the hydration benefit.

Just went on a buying spree...

I just spent $2000 on a new drysuit and undergarments. After the purchase I was in shock! I was reeling from how easy it was to spend that amount of money in just a few clicks. I wasn't even thinking about what I was doing during the purchasing process. Just click, click, click...

    28% Nitrox

You likely won't find a table for specific Nitrox blends other than 32% and 36%. You have two options: 1: work out the EAD (equivalent air depth) and then use air tables. You should have been taught this approach in your Nitrox course. 2: use a deco program to cut you a custom table for 28%...

Whites attached boots, Evos and shore diving

I am in the position where I must choose between Whites' semi-attached boots and their Evo 3 boots. I am leaning towards the attached boots because I have read that they allow greater mobility of the ankle which means your range of motion to do various kick types is increased. However this...

Nitrox in the deep dark south

I don't know about up there in Jo'burg (where the number of dive shops is inversely proportional to the number of dive sites) but down here in Cape Town there are only two places that continuous blend, none that bank Nitrox and all the rest do partial pressure blending. So, unless you want to...

    If you have a choice.....

Avantis frog kick just fine. I don't have Jets to compare them to but they are equal to, if not better than, my IST Jetfin clones.

    Rental tanks leaking

Surely if the o-ring is in working condition it will stop any air from leaking past it regardless of whether the threads are corroded or not? Even non-corroded threads will allow air past them because they aren't designed to stop air flow. That is what the o-ring is for.

    Dogs and Diving

    That's not a scuba dog. It's a scuba rat! :D

    Are Drysuit Undergarments really necessary?

This is false. A wetsuit merely slows down the rate at which you lose heat to the water. If you are not wet you will lose heat even slower than if you were wet so the wetsuit will work regardless.

Do you dive the Whites Mk 2 undergarments?

I realise that people's tolerance of cold varies wildly from person to person so the following question will be difficult to answer succinctly but I'd like to ask it anyway if only to get a general idea. What temperature ranges do you dive your WHites Mk 2 undergarments, assuming that you...

    why hate safety devices?

Often the low battery warning on computers is unreliable. I have personally had a computer which told me it had "4 bars" (the maximum number) left of battery and then on the next dive a week later only 1 and gave me the low battery warning. The technician at my local dive shop tells me that...

    why hate safety devices?

Seems to me that you are hiding behind the assertion that people have not read your OP just because you don't like their answers.

    why hate safety devices?

Wow ... consensus on SB is a rare, rare thing however EVERYONE seems to agree in their responses to your question. I'd take that as a rather prominent sign. I'm not going to reiterate everything that has already been said but would like to point out that your question was well and truly answered.
