I had to cut my line one day while I was practicing with my reel and was aondering if it would be okay for me to tie the excess line back on... its my safety reel not my primary,,,,

Get the ranger... you will not regret it! It is bulky to travel with but it has a great track record and is made by a dependable manufacturer.......

Does anyone have any legitimate statistics about the number of incidents on air vs. mix?? There are most likely too many variables to tabulate a set of numbers for that but....

I agree with you that the technology is widely available to make these dives in a safer manner.... Some people simply do not have access to mixed gases and can only use air... I think a experienced RECREATIONAL diver could safely complete a dive to 160' on air with no problems... I used...
250 feet is a mix dive true enough but what about 145-175 feet? This are outside of real nitrox depths and most "old timers" will tell you that you can easily tolerate the narcs at these depths but the DIR method does not condone air dives below 100 feet (or basically at all).... I think air can...
Whats the big deal with the gas blender course? Is it any different than any other gas mixing course, or is it just the fact that its PADI??

Most shops do not carry backplates or have only begun to recently... its sounds like you r happy with them and they are very flexible..... keep diving baby!

You KNOW its coming soon... they learned their lesson with the whole nitrox DEMA thing and will be on the forefront of recreational mixed gas diving.... I cant wait to get a look at the video!!!!
Judging from previous course material as well as the RecTec manual it will probably be a good...

I have had my nikos down to 172' and it still flowed smooth (thick but smooth!

I think a new diver would be more interested in a BC with features like weight integration and pockets and the like... a BP and wings is a minimal approach (which is a good one) all I'm saying is that the new diver would not be "attracted" to a Backplate setup because chances are...
Anybody got any insight as to what the questions in the "knowledge reviews" in the padi trimix text will be like?? Maybe we can all get a jump on the book work now!
