A dive buddy of mine had a about 8 dives on her new reg when the HP seat failed and delivered high pressure to the 2nd stage and the LPI. We were not underwater at the time but the 2nd stage free flowed and her wing fully inflated. Would most likely have been a highly dangerous ascent to the...
@Gbair89
Good on you for ignoring all the naysayers and forging ahead with your side mount plan. It's a really great configuration.
You asked people to keep adding their comments so I'll chip in as well.
Please ensure that you take your sidemount course from an instructor who regularly dives...
This is actually another point against them. If your 2nd stage was free flowing because of a 1st stage failure and high IP you'd probably blow a low pressure hose. Which is a lot less desirable under water than a free flowing reg.
I have four old 1st stages that I'd like to convert to DIN if possible.
-1st Generation Aqualung Titan LX
-Sherwood Oasis 2 (With the little set screw under the yoke when externally adjusting the pressure)
-Tekna t-2100
-Dacor 900
Has anyone on here done this or know what parts would be...
I find the job a lot easier in the water for some reason. I have my tanks clipped with a snap lock until I'm fully in the water then transition to the bungys.
My opinion is that if you are happy with your current instructor then stick with her.
People on this board get a bit carried away with their expectations of basic open water courses. You'll often hear people bagging on courses because you see students kneeling on the sand etc. The point is to...
I was diving with someone the other day who had to drive to an altitude of about 800m afterwards. In order to reduce his risk he decided to extend his safety stop on the final dive from 3 minutes to 7. This was at 5m.
He reckoned that you offgas faster under slight pressure. Something to do...
Thanks for the responses everyone.
Two of the tanks had a hydro but this was done in store. No transport to testing station needed.
I doubt that tumbling was needed. Only three years old and they didn't charge me for one.
I think I'll go back and have a chat with the store. See what comes...
Hey guys
I've got my tanks back from the shop where they were being tested and filled. I've since noticed some damage to the paint that goes all the way to the steel underneath. It's some very consists scratches that is the same on all tanks.
I'm 98% sure that this was not there before I...
I always assumed that was because different moderators get assigned different area's of Scubaboard to patrol? Just different people having different idea's about what is acceptable and what isn't.
The job is finished.
Thanks @Couv , @GJC ,@axxel57 and @AfterDark for your help.
All parts clean and shinned, new o-rings, HP seat had been polished smooth and I've followed Pete Wolfingers advice and cycled it 300 times to properly bed in the HP seat.
I'm getting 128psi on a 50bar cylinder...
If you have created a thread which has started to go off the rails with minor bitching and whatnot (that doesn't exactly break the rules but also isn't constructive to the discussion), is there a way to remove a few posts without having to go through the "report" process and bother a moderator?
And this is you...
Who can't read...
With nothing better to do with your time than be an internet troll.
So why don't you go away and leave people who are doing good work to their own devices. Go head to the pub if you want to have a bitch about something. Or stay and try to be...
