    Lost diver in Puget Sound

That combination says alot to me about why there may appear to be a high number of "incidents." We have cold, dark and currents, but you really do have to get offshore or work at it (like finding kettleholes on the bottom) to get deep. I'm not saying that boat captains are cops around here...

    Lost diver in Puget Sound

Not to prejudge fault or assign blame, but given the "duty of care" that could be argued in ths situation, the inevitable lawsuit just might take care of that...

    Night Dive Unwanted Ascent

It does make sense, and you could probably explain it with simple physics. Remember when you were studying to get certified, and you compared how the volume of gas changed going from one depth to the next? Take a look at how much it changes going from 90 feet to 80 versus 30 feet to 25. Even...

You do have spearfishing, though, don't you? Maybe it's time for someone to meet Mr. Riffe...

Primary connected to bottom of first stage?

I should have mentioned that: as Diver0001 says this is a configuration for a long primary hose. That's how mine are rigged.

Primary connected to bottom of first stage?

I have Scubapro Mark 20/25s and from what I can see the port configuration is pretty similar to the Z2. I route my primary out the bottom too. In my opinion, it gives a better, more streamlined routing. I cant the reg clockwise, so the gauge and inflator hose come down from the left side...

    Bring on the Kool-Aid

Actually, Jones didn't have the stones to endure poisoning like he made the rest of those poor souls go through. He shot himself or had someone else do it. Freak and Coward.

Diver drowns on Dive Boat Karen, Brooklyn, NY

Without commenting on this accident, since I dont know the experience or training of the victim, I wholeheartedly agree with this. When they say you are certified for diving in "similar or better conditions to those in which you were trained," they're serious. It goes both ways - cold, dark...

    Check this out!

I wonder if this was meant to allow submariners to escape from damaged subs at up to 300 meters...or to convince submariners that they could escape from damaged subs at up to 300 meters... I'd love to hear the story from someone who used one, even if just in training.

    I'm Taking the DIR Plunge

You better believe it! Despite the name, this is a class that will challenge the most experienced divers. There may be a few like the poster above who go in, pass it on the first go, and say "what's the big deal?," but I think they will be a small, small minority. Still not so sure on...

    I'm Taking the DIR Plunge

Weren't you also a nearly brand-new diver when you took fundamentals? Though his profile doesn't say so (will the dive info feature ever work again?) Mike isn't, I've been in the water with him and he has a different starting point. Your advice might be right for relatively inexperienced...

    I'm Taking the DIR Plunge

Dean is an awesome diver and a great instructor. Make sure you get him to talk about his own exploration diving, he does some very cool stuff with his group in FL. He is a no-nonsense guy, though, and pretty tough. You will really learn a lot from someone who is actually going out and...

    I'm Taking the DIR Plunge

***? That wasn't her on the boat last Thursday, was it? On to other matters, glad to hear you're taking the class, Mike. Most people get a lot out of it, and you're level-headed enough not to get caught in the hype so don't sweat it. My advice is, take it in doubles if you possibly...
