We have been home from our tenth trip to Bonaire for a few weeks now, and I am finally posting a trip report. Our group of fourteen visited the Divi Flamingo Beach Resort for one week from June 24 – July 1, 2019.

We flew American Airlines this year and traveled Monday to Monday, instead of our usual Saturday to Saturday. We saved a decent amount on airfare by making this change.
One thing I noticed with the different schedule was I seldom knew which day of the week it was, and I didn’t care.

Our group was able to have the dive orientation and receive our Marine Park tags at Divi Dive soon after arrival. We picked up our weights and divided into buddy teams and were soon in the water for a nice check out dive. I personally enjoy the orientation dive since it allows me the opportunity to become comfortable with any changes to my gear configuration.

Each morning we had a two-tank boat dive to various sites, and would shore dive in the afternoon. The visibility was great and water temperature was 80 - 81 degrees at each site we visited. We would head North, South or over to Klein and explore the beautiful reefs located around the Marine Park.

Our group was a mixture of newer and experienced divers, and the sites we visited were suitable for any skill level. A few of the sites were Cliff, Karpata, Bloodlet, Jeff Davis Memorial, Salt Pier, Hilma Hooker, Corporal Meiss, The Rock and Leonora’s Reef.

Each afternoon some of our group would shore dive the Divi house reef, Calabas.
We would gear up on the dock and either giant stride or use the steps to enter the water
We found an octopus out and about one afternoon and enjoyed watching him for a bit.
I always wonder what I don’t notice or swim by after each dive.

We had the breakfast buffet each morning, and ate sandwiches, or at Chibi Chibi for lunch.
We walked into town a few nights for dinner enjoying Patagonia and It Rains Fishes with friends. We enjoyed a nice group dinner at Sebastian’s toward the end of our trip.
The Pier Table provided an exceptional atmosphere and a great time was had by all.

In summary, Bonaire has become our favorite dive destination due to the ease of diving, the wonderful people and the overall beauty of the island.

I have attached a link to a video of our trip.

I've never stayed there; with 10 trips I imagine you've likely tried some other options? What led you to choose, maybe prefer, Divi Flamingo?

I ask because there are a range of popular options, and some people researching a Bonaire trip may be trying to figure out how to discriminate between them - Buddy Dive Resort, Sand Dollar, Den Laman, Divi Flamingo, etc...

We have stayed at Plaza Resort and Divi Flamingo during our visits.
The group we travel with is mostly over fifty and have found Divi meets our needs. We don’t rent trucks and shore dive like most visitors. We enjoy the companionship of boat diving each morning and convenience of shore diving from the dock in the afternoon. The resort is within walking distance of town for those that choose to go out.

I've stayed at Divi, Buddy Dive, Plaza over the years.

Some thoughts

I personally prefer Buddy Dive to Divi because.
Better breakfast
Better house reef
No cruise ships
No casino therefore no strangers drifting through at night
and the suites at Divi have the tiniest bathrooms ever.

Den Lamen has no pool
Sand dollar has a pool but it's up by the road
Plaza is big and very spread out
The house reef off Den Lamen and Sand dollar is arguably the best on island.

None of these are first class places, but if all you want is a reasonably priced dive lodge with easy access to the ocean and to pick up tanks, all will be adequate.

Oh, never mind...I read your report more thoroughly and found my answer. Thanks for your report.
